I wanted to see what bodies of water our bass club would be holding events on for next year and what this years schedule had  confirmed before I chose a new crankbait rod for the "deep stuff."  WE will be fishing several venues where DD22's and similar baits will come into play so I made my mind up on the Paul Mueller 805CB Glass. I've used my 764CB in past and it worked well but I was pushing the bait weight  envelope.  Having the 705CB Glass, I'm confident I have the right rod on my order list.  Now I have to talk myself into the new skippin rod. Oh the challenges I face.  BTW: If you guys fish football jigs and haven't tried Gary's jigs you are missing out.  They are A+++

Let us know how it differs from the 764.

Thanks for the intel on Gary's jigs.

So the 805CB Glass made it to the porch.  As always, it was packed (with a Fury 795SB) in impeccable fashion.  Leave it to Dobyns to know how to ship a rod properly.  I did get some play time with.  The action was exactly what I expected. Lighter than I expected however. Handle length is perfect. Build quality and cork was awesome. The action is moderate but powerful.  I threw some 1/2 and 3/4 ounce stuff and the blank loaded sooooo nice.  There no doubt in my mind I can go well over an ounce safely.  I expect to throw DD 22's, Cloud 9 15's and SK 6XD's for the most part. The rod balanced perfectly with the Tatula 200 so we are go. I've been wanting this model for over two years. Worth the wait.

I was all set on the 764cb and now I have room to store a bigger rod in the boat. Do I get the 764 or go with the 805? Dilemas.  lo
