I have had 2 transactions with this guy, and both times he has sent me a hand tied jig. Now, I have to give credit where credit is due...this guy can tie some nice jigs. Please elaborate if you are painting the heads and molding them yourself, because they are straight up impressive.

They look good!!! I do paint the heads on the ones I make, the difference is I tie my skirts, don't use collars.

I'm still mastering the craft, but I really appreciate the nice words. I was wondering why my Facebook page was picking up a bunch of new likes.  lo

I'm not pouring my own lead (yet), but I've looked into going that route. I've done it a bunch with my Dad growing up making our own crappie jig heads. The molds to make all of your own heads gets expensive unless you're really selling/making a lot of heads. That being said, some of the heads I use are painted/assembled by the manufacturer, and other jig heads that I use I buy completely raw, and I am powder painting them, curing the jig, and attaching the weedguards myself.

I have learned in the past few weeks to add a highlight color to the heads, as well as add colored flake to an individual jig. My skirts are all hand made by me, so those are the one thing that I am doing all by myself. It takes a lot of time to build an entire jig from start to finish from scratch, and that's not something that I have a ton of time to do by myself with a 1 year old at home.

Most jigs have Mustad ultrapoints on them. However, I have some jigs that I use that use Owners, and some that even have Trokars on them. So it really just depends on what head design you want.

Thanks Zip. I know you have seen some of my work since I started making them this summer, and I'm just trying to get better with the more experience I get.

I'm still learning to wire tie mine. I really prefer a wire tied design for my own personal use as well, so once I master that, I'll start doing that more.

If any of you haven't donated to the Adopt A Family program yet, I am donating a $50 prize package to that, so one of you could win a very nice prize pack of jigs and spinnerbaits. If anyone else has any more questions, I'll be glad to answer them.

I use fly tying thread with a whip finish and cover it with Hard as Nails nail polish, makes it quick and simple, with practice you'll get faster and learn what is the most efficient for you. Keep at it, it's enjoyable.

I got some old school living rubber and started tying some football jigs. Here's a sneak peek at one of the baits that will be given away in the Adopt A Family raffle.

Another good looking jig. Don't limit rubber to football jigs, it works very well on other head styles too.
