Do you think they are trying to hard.

Trying to put a new name on the same product. Promoting big fish catches in the dink fest world. Still will be 80 competitors. And the same format.

I was a fan of the original version of 10-12 guys trying to figure a lake out in real time. But this practice on a lake you have to fish on for 4-5 days is just as bad as putting fish in a livewell. Too much pressure. And if you hook 1,000 fish a day or more how many are harmed?

"The 30 anglers from the 80-angler field of the Bass Pro Tour with the highest cumulative weight across five stages earn a spot to compete in MLF's Heavy Hitters."

Check the article again. Only 30 guys. I'm thinking this is more like a best of the best Big Bass Fest like BASS has been having the past few years.

But I agree. They're testing the waters because they are seeing guys leave already.

Somehow I missed it. At least there is 2 lb minimum to count. They are reaching for solutions.

What they need is to get the fans integrated into the tourneys somehow.

I don't know.  never have seen tournament angling as a spectator sport.  as an angler, I just have this 'sense' to stay away and let them do their thing.

after all, as they'll tell you 'they're fishing for $100K... so can I have this spot?'

;)

always thought MLF was 'made for TV'.  but have to say:  watching 2 hours is a bit tedious unless I first record on DVR, then fast-forward through the commercials.

I've never been one to show up and watch a weigh in.  frankly they're boring to me.  even more than watching guys go round and round in circles on an oval track or try to hit a little white dimpled ball into a hole in the ground.

but that's just me.  you might see it differently.

The only reason I say that is for sponsors to get their moneys worth out of it. With MLF the only sponsors getting time is the MLF sponsors.
That alone is going to kill MLF. Only so many guys have those sponsors, the rest of the sponsors will go to BASS where they get time in front of the public.

I agree with the non spectator sport thing though. Football, Hockey, and womens volleyball are all I watch.

I still get a kick out of all the "talk" and "arguments" of bass fishing. Its a damn leisure activity, and some people take it way too seriously.  lo
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

Without it you would be playing with the same reels from 30 years ago.

Nah. Trust me. Professional fishing is a very small percentage of influence when you look at the whole scheme of things. You may not have as many brands, but they are all the same chit anyways. I think it would be better, and less costly to the consumer.
