Need to clean and lube my old Daiwa PS2-2B baitcaster to be used as a worming rig.  Can't figure how to remove the left side cover on this R/H reel.  Can anyone offer a hint?  i have the schematic but can't find a clue by looking at it.  Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks.

Where the brake dial is, there is a screw in the center. Take a nickel and use it to put in the slot and loosen that screw. Then you should be able to rotate the sideplate and remove it.

'Mornin Gambler (I see you too are in s. Fla.).........Thanks for the tip, re. using a nickel in the dial slot, but my brake dial has no such slot.  Wish I knew how to post a photo of what i'm dealing with; my brake dial has teeth around the circumference (cosmetic only, as i can tell) and the dial otherwise has a bar printed across the center with the label "magforce" stamped on it, and numbers 1-10 around the inner border.  I've rotated the dial from one end to the other on that 1-10 scale, and tried to rotate the side plate at each stop.  I tried to grip the outer surface with a tool and rotate beyond either stop, but to no avail.

I've seen other bait casters with the telltale coin slot as you mentioned, but that's not to be on this one.  I've verified that i am referencing the correct model number printed on the reel  which is evident in the schematic i retrieved off the web.  This is the reel with the flipping option (has the flipping on-off switch on the right side plate plus the "free spooling" on-off switch).  I keep looking for  a release button hidden somewhere, but i guess that is found only on the modern reels.  Also, I don't find obvious bolts to loosen from the right side in order to free up the left side cover.

I wish it were as simple as you implied, but I'm still in a quandary.  Thanks again for your suggestion.

If this is your reel, I think there are 2 screws that are long on this reel that go and hold the palm plate, and go through the reel and thread into the side plate. You may have to remove those, then you can remove the palm plate.

See the screws located in the top right?

Okay, now I see what you are referring to (2 long screws).  I hesitated at first to remove them (fearing the unknown, i guess).  So, I'll take a look  at that  as soon as i get back from some Honey-dos.  I'll report later with my results.
thanks again.

Hey, you guys really know what you're talking about, with possibly one minor addition;  Once those two long screws were loosened there remained a struggle to remove  the left side cover off.  As a last ditch effort, I turned the brake dial to the high end of the 1-10 scale and then a slight tug popped it right off.

Now I'm ready to go to work with some Q-tips some reel oil and a slight dab of grease in specified places, with high hopes that'll produce a longer cast than what it revealed right out of the storage box.

I forgot to mention that in that same storage box I located another Diawa bait caster, model 153B, and a cheapie Shimano Bantam Coriolis, each needing this same clean and lube treatment.  Perhaps with clues gleaned in this topic discussion i will be up to the mental challenge for removing the respective left side covers.

Thanks to each for your helpful encouragement and information.

We do what we can. Enjoy the reels. And pay close attention to the little parts.  lo

I posted to your thread on the triforce. If LMG doesn't have anything on the Shimano I might.

I came across a CD with schematics for thousands of reels. It may be in there somewhere.

Oh and just as an fyi, I am really new to all this stuff so I would check anything I say with LMG or Mike just in case.

Looks.like I've got Schematics for two Bantam Coriolis reels, one says 100 and the other says 200.

Let us know if either of these is the one you need.
