Dobyns Xtasy 755c review

The Dobyns Xtasy 755c is a grass fisherman's dream rod. It will flip, pitch, punch, frog, and toad with power to spare.

My original thought was to buy it for a frog rod as it would be super light and powerful enough. And it fits the bill very well. It will fling a frog a mile, well at least far enough to spool my JDM Daiwa Zillion svtw XXSL. These Toray guides are like having a lubricating system on the rod. Line flys through these guides.
Gary considers the Xtasy line a bottom contact series and yes the sensitivity is insane but so is how light these rods are. Flinging a Stanley Ribbit around for 6 hours didn't drain my old arms with the DRX755c.
Yes I have pitched the heck out of the Xtasy 755c and it as smooth as air. It made me look like I knew what I was doing and landing a sweet beaver in the hole very quietly.
Now onto the power of the Xtasy 755c it is built into the whole rod but yet has the tip action to place pitches into the hole you were aiming for and to fling a frog forever. A 4lber tucked into the weeds as soon as he hit and this rod set the hook solidly into his upper jaw and pulled him towards me as well as the boat to him. It also skied a 3 lbers like it was a dink.
The sensitivity is off the charts. with 65 lb Power pro and a 1/4 oz tungsten weight I able to tell the difference between cattail roots and pad roots. I am not kidding either, the Nano technology and the Toray guides make every vibration flow through your hands.
I would not say go emptying your bank account  out to buy an Xtasy 755c for a few times a year frogging but if you have the cash and want a rod that can do all things weedy this is it.

It's not hard to see why you like the Xtasy. It's my favorite Dobyns too.  Incredibly versatile model. I love the reel seat lock nut. Same with the Extremes.  I would love to see Gary add that feature to the Champion line. I also love the 7'5" length.  That is perfect for me. I just thought i'd "pitch" in Zippy.
