Just wanted to tell a story about a fish that my wife caught today.  She was using her Dobyns Fury 663 spinning rod paired with a Shimano NASCI 2500 with 20# Braid.  She hooked up with a mudfish today in about 18 ft of water using a Yum senko style bait watermellon with a chart color tail.

I just wanted to let you know that the rod did a fantastic job of keeping the fish pinned and she handled it fairly easily given the angry nature of mudfish.  Even the little spinning reel performed perfectly so I would say the rod and reel marriage is perfect.  If you are wondering if the rod can handle it, I think she answered this question quite well.    The fish is estimated to be about 24" or so and had some weight to it but you can bet i was not gonna be the person to put it  in the boat let alone try to measure it   ICK ! !   Anyway it was a good fight and it made her day today.  I noticed she has been browsing the Dobyns site so she must be thinking about making an addition to her arsenal.  Ya gotta love it when the wife is an angler.
