PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. —

The rare and elusive Lake Trout with two mouths that made the news has been caught again on Captain Bryce Collins' charter boat!! What are the chances of catching a "Fish of a lifetime" twice in the same week?!

While fishing on Lake Champlain last week, Debbie Geddes and her husband reeled in an unbelievable catch — a fish with two mouths.

The fish quickly rose to stardom online, making rounds across the Champlain Valley and the nation as people tried to determine what exactly had caused its unique physical attributes.

Last Friday, a second report of the fish appeared. Bryce Collins, of Eastern View Outfitters, contacted NBC5 after he says an angler with Eastern View Outfitters pulled a fish with two mouths on board.

"We couldn't believe it," Collins said. "That's the fish!"

The crew was quick to snap some photos of the catch and, after a bit of debate, decided to release the fish back into Lake Champlain.



Since both anglers have released their prized catch, it's currently unclear if this is the same fish or if there are multiple two-mouthed trout swimming around near the New York coast line.

When discussing what caused the unusual anatomical feature, both Collins and Geddes weren't sure. One theory is that the trout swallowed a hook when it was younger and the cut has slowly grown into a second "mouth." Until the fish is examined, however, it's difficult to say with certainty.
