Gary Y's Kut Tail worm, like the Senko, is a work of genius unmatched my few other worms. First notice the shape:

Almost half of the body away from the tail is thicker and then tapers toward the tail which is spear shaped : very thin on one side tapered from the other side.

The plastic used is secret and though salt isn't the main ingredient, the lure is heavier than any other plastic worm while also as soft, but one thing amazed me the first time I used it: it doesn't sink any faster than other plastics when using a light weight. The combination allows for an action different than most plastic worms when used a certain way except a few.

Last year I found a Kut Tail presentation that excels near weeds : rig it on a 1/32 ball head jig / hook size 2/0. Cast it out and twitch the rod top - pause - twitch. The whip-action is incredible! combined with a worm that appears suspending. I can catch bass in the middle of the day or late afternoon as well as morning using the lure with this presentation and light jig head.

What other worm can simulate the whip/ slither action? : a Ring Worm.
Note the taper from mid section to tail:

The curl tail while fine for bottom bouncing is too thick for using the above presentation. Just cut the tail off and the action is similar as as effective using the 4" size. Yesterday I caught a 2 lb bass in a pond just after 12 pm under a bright sun using the Ring Worm for the first time with the tail cut off and rigged on a 1/32 jig. I saw the bass come out from under some weeds and blast the lure.

Something to consider using.

I've been fishing the Kut Tail for some time and usually on a 1/16 or 1/8 T-rig although I've also fished it weightless in weeds. It's a killer bait!

It also makes for an awesome dropshot worm fished vertically or cast out and dragged back   ;)
