If you only have one battery in the boat that runs your motor, electronics, and troller, you may want to pick up a jump start system just in case you drain your battery while you are out fishing. Can easily happen especially when losing all track of time out on the water. I can understand not wanting to go 24 volt troller at this time but I believe you will certainly re consider over the winter after you have had a chance to learn all about your boat.

So I was looking at the battery compartment, there is two batteries on there, they are both deep cycle batteries. I would think one of those should be a cranking battery? Like I said I am not real good with electrical stuff.

Most quality batteries are now dual purpose. Get the model # and look them up on line.

Two Batteries, OK, now look to see if there is an onboard battery charger. It too will be located near the batteries.

Well took the boat out this morning for the first time! The wife went with me, launching the boat went better than I expected, the fishing wasn't the best. Hooked a really nice bass on a Ned rig and it threw the hook right at the boat. Nothing else fish wise! The loading of the boat got interesting at first. Tried to drive to the dock with the outboard and have my wife grab the dock, she got scared cause the boat shifted at the last minute so took a couple attempts to get the dock. Got it on the trailer just fine. Boat ran great, so very happy.

Wiring for 2 batteries is actually simple, if you 6 gauge wire the only thing you'll need is a cable to connect the batteries together. Connect the red cable to one positive and the black cable to the negative post on the other battery, the jumper connects the other 2 posts, easy peasy.

Just thought I would give an update, I have had the new to me boat out the last two weekends fishing a couple small lakes in the area. The launching of the boat is getting better, as is the loading of the boat (which was interesting the first time). The fishing on the other hand isn't going as well! lol Lost one nice one at the side of the boat the first time out, went that week and bought a net for on the boat, haven't had a bite since!

Guess they know they aren't getting away now! lol. Really enjoying it and looking forward to learning more as I go. All I know is this winter is gonna be so much more difficult than past winters, gonna stink looking at it and not being able to use it!! Need to get some electronics on it this winter for next year to make it easier to find fish, and maybe update the trolling motor!
