I don't see too many other guys throwing fur and feathers down here in southern Texas, but there's a few of us around, stalking the bayous, creeks, ponds, and reservoirs. The fish live in some pretty places.

This past spring, I spent a lot of quality time on foot and in my float tube chasing the green fish.

They eat surface bugs and especially wooly buggers.

Heavy leader and tippet is a must.

And sometimes they come two at a time with one on top and one on the dropper.

But any way they bite the hook, it's fun to catch them.

If you're chasing bass with the buggy whip and tied hooks, post up your photos or fish tales! It's hot and steamy out now, so I probably won't be flinging flies until it cools off again, but updates and poorly taken photos will follow. Now I need to tie up some experimental patterns for the next trip.

Thanks for sharing your story and pics. Please keep it up.
I can't wait to see what type of flies you tie.
I only use the buggy whip for steelhead.

Very nice!! Don't know much about flyfishing besides what I see on TV, but it looks cool!! Thank you for sharing your report. Nice pics btw. The railroad shot is nice.  ~c~

I wrapped up some of these shad mimics to try out but haven't had a chance to throw them yet.

They look like little baby bass, very nice!!

Thanks man. They're generic enough that they can look like pretty much any kind of little fish. Even these.

And maybe these.

Which also tend to eat flies intended for bass in the spring when they're hyper-aggressive.
I also tried some mice, but they didn't move any bass.

Need to try them at night and see what happens.
