We all love this sport in varying degrees. Its fair to say that the majority of us here on UB just don't like bass fishing we LOVE BASS FISHING. At which point of the fishing process does your love affair with bass fishing kick in to high gear??

For me it happens during 2 stages. The prep work the day before and right before I gun the throttle to head to my fishing grounds. The rod prep gets my fishing brain going with helping me formulate a game plan for the next day's outing. The launch is the kick off to my outing, my escape from everyday life and into my world of just bass fishing. LOVE IT!!

What say you??

I have 2, bass fishing and woodworking, they both give me a place to go to be quiet and alone. I hope mto have my shop up and running by the end of the year, it'll also be the place I do my reel cleaning and overhaul and making my jigs so I have to put storage in and bring some organization to it. Both give me a lot of pleasure so I accomdate them both.

For me, it's bass fishing and all things fly fishing. I guess it started when I was 3 and fascinated by fishing, even though my parents never fished. Then the fishing shows in the '80's got me addicted as a youngster. Now I tie my own flies and make my own jigs. I've made some swimbaits too. Hard to say whether I'd prefer to be out chasing bass on a reservoir somewhere or casting a nymph rig to a trout in a mountain stream or sight casting to a redfish in the marsh or a bonefish on the flats. I love it all! My work week is a countdown to my next free day on the water. Evenings, I read online or in books and older magazines about all things fishing. I love being out on the water, watching birds, seeing turtles and snakes, taking in sunrises and sunsets, thinking about what's happening in the liquid universe. I'm not a fan of fishing on weekends, but it's what I have available. Come winter, I pray to the gods of foul weather for storms that will scare recreational anglers off the water so I have it to myself. I always prefer fishing in conditions the fish love but most anglers hate. And I almost always fish alone. My wife comes sometimes and I'll take my dad out when the weather is nice (he's not a fan of being uncomfortable), but 95% of the time, it's just me and the creatures.

Quit reading this and go fishing!

Bass fishing and drag racing old trucks. Yeah kind of a weird combo but I have always loved building and modifying engines for more power and I love some older truck body styles. Then add the competitive nature I have and you get drag racing old trucks. Its a completely different type of satisfaction I get from it than fishing. Both are my therapy and fill niches I need filled.

I think for me it's one long continual process that starts with the simple idea that I will be getting to go fishing. The juices get going a little more when I start the mental process - time of year and type of fishery should give me the general idea of where the majority of bass should be. That gives me a basis for the types of baits  I believe I will need to get to them the most efficiently. That gives me my rod selection.

Packing the gear helps the reality that I am actually going fishing set in all the more and having a basic game plan sweetens the whole deal.

Actually getting on the water makes me both a little scared and a little excited. What if my game plan doesn't come together or there have been unexpected changes to the body of water that I didn't know about? This is actually a good thing because if I did my job right I have a plan B and hopefully a plan C.

But the real jumping off point to the height of excitement for me  comes with hooking that first bass. My joy is complete when one of my game plans starts to produce consistent catches.

The attraction for me, first and foremost, is being outdoors and fishing is almost secondary.  Tampa is a mecca for fishing in general but mostly for saltwater. I didnt want the added issue of adding salt to the equation, so I opted for a bass boat.

I almost dont sleep the night before a fishing trip, especially if it's to one of the best central FL lakes (Toho, Kissimmee, etc..)

Every cast brings the opportunity to catch a bass of a lifetime. That thrill cant be matched by many other sports. Golf was my other past time and I still play occasionally. A topwater strike is a kin to smoothing a drive or sticking a wedge.

I do prefer catching over just fishing, though.

I agree with all your posts but must add organizing my baits and equipment after a day of fishing also is something that I really enjoy. It is a great time to reflect on the day and evaluate what worked and what didn't. I guess I'm kind of anal and put everything back in its place.

I have being a puzzle nut my whole life. Not the cardboard kind but the wooden mechanical kind. Once I discovered bass fishing in the 70's that has been my puzzle obsession.

It's all ways on for me. Anytime I see a body of water bigger that a mudhole I wonder, how deep is it?  What do they eat primarily? What's the water temp?

When I do go fishing and start to catch a few, I wonder why did they eat that?  My brain spins into overdrive thinking about moon phase, barometer readings, wind direction, water temps, depth.....

I love fishing Period and Bass is the Fish I love to catch the most.

However I have a vast enjoyment level in many things and they tend to Rise and Fall in Importance as the Seasons go and also my mood.

I may focus solely on Fishing for several years, then switch it up by adding Hunting Deer and Turkey into the mix. Having a Son in Law that asked me to help him learn how to hunt did help with that drive, must of not done to bad of a job as he got 3 deer last year when things came together for him (2 bucks and 1 doe).

I also enjoy riding ATV's on trails, but not so much into using them as a boat in Water like some do, and the occasional Mudding.

Riding my Harley took top priority for many years, now it is more of a "when I want to" sort of thing.

But my Love for fishing started with my Mother who took me fishing on the stream behind our house with a Stick picked up from the woods and some Mono Line wrapped around it, and it has never ever left me.
