The challenge review from the the Oldfart; 2 fish caught, not worth turning on the camera for. It was a tough but humiliating day. Started with a PopR, nada, went to a Kietech, 2 1st 121/2 inches the second was maybe 9 inches, bite died, went to a soft stick wacky, nada, tried a "T" rigged 6 inch worm, zippo, went to and finished with a dropshot, nothing, not even a nibble from a panfish. Hung my head low and slunk out of there and back home. It wasn't the equipment, I wasn't the only one but the dropshot failed me, really, that's as low as it can get. Most of the bassboats left before I did and I left about 11:00.

I'll post pics when Tapatalk picks this up.
Old Fishermen never die, their rods just go limp.

The rod is a BPS CARBONLITE 2.0 7 foot medh. the reel is an old Quantum Catylist 30 spooled with 10 lb POWER PRO. I forgot to mention the jig, 1/2 ounce Oldfart special.
The one thing I didn't do I figured I would try if  I could screw up the courage was skipping dock. I didn't and I regret it but it's been years since I fished docks and I just didn't feel like smacking pontoon hulls and hanging up on docks, if I had a shorter rod I would have tried it. It did feel good to be on the water even if I had to fish sitting down. Don't tell Zip but I might try it again on my home waters after my surgery.

Thanks for the report. How well did the outfit handle all the different baits?

And I won't tell zip.  lo

Better than I thought it would, the popper was no problem, it had a 17 lb mono leader so the braid wouldn't wrap the hooks. The Keitech I normally throw with 10 or 15 lb braid on a medium heavy graphite rod, especially in grass. The jig and worm while the line was smaller I generally throw on a medh unless I'm throwing a lighter bait. My normal dropshot outfit is 6'6" medium/light, 10 lb braid with a 6 or 8 lb leader worked alright without the leader, I just had to remember to be gentler in the movements, not a big deal.
I generally use 15 lb braid in grass, I've pulled some 4 lb plus out of heavy grass, just can't horse them out, turn the head and keep steady pressure on them and they'll come.
I probably should have gone to the docks even knowing my skipping skills are not what they were before I made the change to the outside edge, that's on me and I will have to do something about it.
