Console Cutting Board Electronics Tip

I posted this in a different thread but had a few requests to also post it here. 

I replaced an electronics unit on my console over the weekend.  The original Lowrance mount had a very wide base and the new mount would not cover the old holes.

I found an $8 cutting board at Walmart.  Trace the old base onto the cutting board and cut it out with a saw.  Sand down the edges and you have a perfect cover for the old holes.  I had to cut out a channel to run the cables for my new unit.

Overall I think it turned out awesome and I could not be happier.
