Need a new prop for my optimax since the old one found a rock. Currently has a 25p tempest and tops out around 57 at wot at 6000 rpms. Has pretty  good home shot but feel like I should be getting more top end speed. Those numbers are with a full load as well. Boat is a 187 champion. Was wandering if anyone thought there was a better option or if I should get another tempest. Thanks

I'm no prop expert by any means but I've come to love the Fury prop. I run a bigger motor but everyone I've suggested it to has also liked it. The Champion is a heavy hull, I run a Legend which is also a heavy hull. The Fury has a way of getting more over all lift than other props.

Problem is it's an expensive prop and if you don't like it, it's a $400 "Wish I hadn't bought that".

See if you can borrow a couple props to play with. If you can get your hands on a fury, 24 or 25, I'd definitely be curious how the Champion handles with it.

All that said your numbers are pretty good for a Champion and a 175. Using a strong biting prop to bring your RPM's down to 5750 or so might get you a mph or two.

Thanks Mike, I should also add that I've never messed with the p2p because I still don't have a water pressure gauge and that makes me nervous. Used to have a 26p on it and it had better top end with that hitting 61ish but hole shot was terrible. I'm going to try to find a fury to try out

Sounds like you are right there, the fury might just be the ticket for your boat.
