This weekend I participated in the Morgan concrete Tournament again on Lake Hartwell.  This is the 17th annual event and it has grown quite large over the years.  The field this year was 176 boats,  a good turnout by any standards.

The day started out at about 6:30 am with us headed up the lake from the Tugalo State Park mega ramp.  with 9 inches of rain in slightly over 6 hours the previous weekend,  the lake was not at its best.  The entire Tugalo arm of the lake was very muddy.  We went all the way north to the river where it cleared up significantly,  however,  it was still stained.  Most boats went down the lake in search of clearer water.

We set the boat down at one of my honey holes and had a few bites on a Carolina rigged lizard,  but nothing but smaller fish.  We switched to an Alabama rig and once we found them, it was on.  We caught about 18 fish thru out the day.  Our best five weighed in at 15.23 pounds.  Enough weight to take 3rd place in the tournament.

If you plan to fish Hartwell this weekend,  you will have to find clear water.  I am told that the south end of the lake toward the dam is fairly clear,  but the entire Tugaloo arm is very dirty.  I was also told that the Seneca arm is muddy as well,  but not like the Tugaloo side is.

Get out there and have fun!
