Alley MM 41
Saturday 4/20/19
8:00 - Noon
Cloudy
Wind W 5-15
Current flowing east
Clairity Stained

Went out this morning with Steve Johnson.  Steve has not fished for quite some time and I hoping to get him on some today.  From the ramp we ran west to the Indian Properties on the north side.  We fished back to the east with the wind at our backs.  Steve started with a H/B frog with two stinger hooks.  First cast he caught a nice fatty on one of the stinger hooks.  I started with plastics and had a nice chunk on the third cast.  The catching was constant from the Buoy to the Weir.  I had three fish on three consecutive casts.  We had several doubles.  We caught them shallow,  tight to cover, at the bottom of the drop off, and even in the middle of the canal.  We thought this was going to be a phenomenal day.

Then we moved to the east side of the weir.  From the east side to the bridge we caught four bass.  What a disappointment after fishing the west side.  The hot bait was the Fluke.  They loved it today, jerking and pausing.  All other baits used were not as good as the fluke today.

We finished at noon with 45 bass boated, 5 big mudfish, and several exotics.  Steve lost a big one when he tried to flip it in the boat.  We both got a good look at it, and it was an easy 5+, with a huge mouth.  The fish today were not the little alley fish, we had a bunch in the three pound range, and some were slamming the bait.  We had several big gators make fake runs toward the boat, hump their backs out of the water and follow us until we left their area.  We also saw a hawk with a asian catfish, diner was served.  Great day, great fun, and lots of action.  Hopefully pics will follow.

Thanks Flats, Lip, and Donald!   After reading all the recent Glades reports from east,  middle, and west, it seems we are on to something good.  Not only numbers, but some chunks starting to show frequently.  I hope it stays around for a while, because it was fun this weekend.  Hopefully should be good until the real rainy season starts.

Bigger fish are finding there way into the canals that's for sure. Between now and June, it should be ridiculous.
