My good friend and personal fishing guide Ronnie and I got out on Lake Seminole on Saturday and beat the bushes for a good long while in search of a couple giants. We launched from River Road bridge next to Three Rivers State Park at 7am and began our search. Water temp in mid-60s. Crazy spring with water temperature all over the place this year. Was up in the 70s, back down to the low 60s, back up to mid-60s. Fish wouldn't know what to do if they based everything on temperature alone. We had a tough morning and only put a couple fish in the boat fishing the Florida side on up to Buena Vista. Morning was cloudy and some fog early. We decided since the fish weren't biting, we might as well so off we went to Trails End Marina for lunch. Trails End is under new ownership and they are in clean up mode - still clearing trees from Hurricane Michael. The future there is bright as plans under way for new cabins closer to the lake. The restaurant made it through the storm but boat slips are in bad shape. The canal leading to/from the lake has been cleared and word is out because there were 8-10 truck/trailers in the parking lot. Food was outstanding - take a break from fishing and head on over there for a bite. The afternoon turned into a beautiful sunny day with a couple isolated rain showers. With the sun came bass ready to eat. We fished our way back to the launch stopping here and there and found fish at every stop. Biggest was Ronnie's 21-inch bass. My 20.5-inch bass came in a close second. Ronnie had one giant on - it stripped drag, made a couple turns, flashed us a couple times and pulled off. Ronnie says it was a state record, but I said we better be truthful and say it was just 8-9 pounds. We put 15-20 fish in the boat all on Zoom Ultravibe Worms in candybug and black grape. Could not get a top water bite going after trying both a buzz bait, spook, and frog. Spinnerbait and chatterbait weren't any better. All in all had a great time with a great friend.

I promise one of these days I will get up to fish at Seminole.

I love seeing your reports from there and it seems to fish more like a "northern" lake than most of the Florida lakes do.

Thanks for the report
