Went out with my son today, and we dropped in around 11:30am. After we launched the first boat we came across was FG and his friend. After a short chat, my son and I continued  south. We came across an armada of boats and I quickly turned around and headed North again. We stopped after a short run and started fishing the main canal.

My son fished with centipedes, which are his favorite baits, and I frogged with a big Spro. The fishing was night and day compared to a week ago. Although I did land several fish with the frog, the frog bite was SLOOOOW.

I decided to take a page out of FG's play book and started throwing a spinnerbait. Fortunately I did, because the fish counter started moving with the spinnerbait.

Overall the fishing was ok at best. I had to work for my fish. FG did a phenomenal job coaxing his 6lbrs. I unfortunately had no such luck. My biggest for the day went 4.5lbs which my son enjoyed netting for me.

We stopped fishing around 5pm and when I looked at the counter we only boated 16 bass. :(  But... my son had a great time and I enjoyed watching him fish and enjoying the outdoors.

Thanks for reading.

The best days ever are the ones taking out your son.  I remember it like was yesterday and I couldn't tell one thing about the catches.  Those moments together are just special.  Watching him catch, just the best!  Congrat Lou, they grow so fast!   ~c~ ~c~ ~c~

Funny you bring that up I was talking to my buddy yesterday when we were fishing about that, we are very blessed to be able to fish the Everglades every weekend not only the great fishing but the nature is unbelievable to be part of  that.Cool thing is if you pay attention to the nature it will tell what the fish are doing.

Very true Fred. For anglers who fish the glades often, fish catch quantity is a barometer in gauging how active an area is. I know it sounds twisted.  lo

Gotta love a frog bite. Threw one for quite a while on Seminole this weekend, but they just didn't want to cooperate....yet. What size frog do you prefer - the larger or smaller variety?
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small.

I alternate between the Spro Jr (55) and Spro 65's.

Thanks Lou - I like their baby popping frog as well. Very subtle presentation when the bite is tough. I throw on 12 pound mono and have had good success when the topwater bite finally turns on. My brother has put 6+ pound fish in the boat using this small food choice. Black and Natural Green my favorite colors. Noticed you had white - is that a go-to color for you?

White became my go to color after spending a couple of days with our buddy in common Al, on Istokpoga. After fishing with him for 2 days, I have not looked back since. I do change colors however, especially when it's a bit too sunny.  I will throw a dark color for contrast.

12lb mono? What rod do you use for that?
How hard is it to get a good hookset?
