Have you had this illness?

I have spent only minutes at a time on my computer. I caught a virus during a hospital appointment and it hit me pretty hard. The doctors still don't agree what it is.
I'll list the symtoms and let me know if you know the illness. Headache; no appetite; foggy mind; fatigue; low fever; bright red rash on lower legs, feet and back of hands; blurred or double eyesight; weakness in limbs (some days I couldn't walk); limbs sometimes shook; sometimes slept up to 20 hours a day. I had no difficulty breathing, drinking; swallowing, blood pressure ok; blood sugar ok. Everything that normally is important for survival was fine.
So, 4 days ago everything starts getting better. Saturday morning and I feel fair. At 1030, I feel something is wrong. My wife says 1 side of my face is drooping and it feels numb. One eye is blurry and I go to the stroke center at the hospital where they admit me. 4 hours of testing, 2 hours waiting and the doctor comes to talk. He said I didn't have a stroke (yeah) but I now have Bell's Palsy. A virus attacks and paralyzes the facial nerves and you lose control of them. It is not permanent but could take weeks or months to heal.
I had great plans for Spring but that has changed. People on UB I had made Spring plans with---I apologize. My vision is still iffy and I may need an operation on them. I am having injections into my eyeballs for the moment. If this is poorly written or doesn't make cents, cut me some slack.

Wiz,

I have a buddy here that had Bell's Palsy, is lasted about 3 weeks and then just went away.  I sure hope yours does the same, it's a nerve deal as you know.

Prayers going your way Wiz. I've known 2 people who suffered a bout of Bell's Palsy but neither had the rash symptom. Both were back to normal in about a month give or take.

Not my first time of hearing of it and I can tell you it's no joke.

My BIL's brother got it bad and even after it left it would still come and go atv will. He dealt with it for years before he died.

Most recently it was my Brother. Thought he had an ear infection and that is what they were treating him for. Then the Face Drop happened and they knew what it was.

His took a long time to go away and in fact to my eye never has completely.

Best Wishes to you with yours.

Wizard, that's why we do our utmost to not go to hospitals for anything. We had a Priest that developed it, took him a couple of months but it cleared up. You'll be in our daily prayers!!!

Wiz I have a question for you. Did you by chance get a shingles vaccine recently?

I saw something late last night that said the medication Zostavax which is the main ingredient in the vaccine is causing all kinds of problems to include Bell's Palsy.

If you did get the vaccine talk to your doctor. Treatment method may vary and help clear things up quicker and with a better chance of it not happening again.

No shingles vaccine but did get a Hepatitis A vaccine at the VA in Sep. I'll ask the doc about it. Thank all for the prayers as I know they work.
