I'm looking for a recommendation for a reel to put on a Loomis 894. I will be running 30-50# braid and may add a flouro leader depending on what I'm throwing. I envision throwing 1/2oz jigs a lot on weededges and around wood but may also throw some 1/4oz swim jigs.

Id prefer to keep the price at or under $200. I've been looking at the Curado K and the Diawa SV TWS but have concerns with both so I'm open to all suggestions.

I currently own 1 of each of these reels and  I don't love the shallow spool and TWing on the Diawa. On the Curado I feel like the quality just hasn't been the same since the E series.

That said, I'm not opposed to buying either of those reels if they are the best on the market in that price range.

Perhaps something like a Fuego should be considered.   I am not a fan of the shallow SV spool either but for my needs it works just fine.  I too would prefer no T Wing but it really has not caused me any problems.

The Fuego holds 120 yd of 14 lb.
The Tatula sv tw  100 yd of 14 lb
the Tatula 100    125 yd of 14 lb
The Tatula 150    100 yd of 16 lb.

I personally would go with the Fuego its is the only one without the T-wing.

I had a buddy recommend the Tatula CT but I don't know anything about that reel. Anyone have experience with it?

30 to 50lb braid is a bit of a difference. If you are gonna run 30, the SV will be more than plenty. If more like 50lb, look into the CT or CT Type R. Now, if your leader is gonna come through the line guide, and you are concerned about that with the TWS, go with the Fuego. Honestly, I had one and tuned it, was a great reel. Kinda transformed like the SLX did. For what I paid for the Fuego CT, and the upgrade of all the bearings, I was still at $100. That thing was soo nice and smooth, my friend had to have it. Lol.

Maybe I'll have to step up to the Curado DC if I can find a Cabelas coupon or something

Not necessarily a step up. More like just more money.

I hve the chronarch version.  maybe try to get your hands on one.  while I love this reel, the one thing I'm learning?  spool sits deeper in the body, narrower spool.  area's just a little tight when trying to stick my big fingers/thumb in there to pick out backlashes.

not that that is EVER and issue for me...   ~b~

The Digital Control is very cool and it's not a gimmick. It works. I love my E models, period. However the K model is growing on me fast. Everything about it has been great. I haven't done the first thing to them and they cast great out of the box. Quarter ounce swim jigs will be no problem.

My vote goes to Daiwa. I have a Citica and it's fine but it's bulky.

I have SV and CT. I'll take a CT that or Fuego over the sv.
Better cast distance and hold a little more line. Because the sv holds less line once your spool isn't full the casting distance gets hindered and it's more apparent than on the CT.
Also the price.

I would go with the DC if it's s option for you. I'm a fan of the E series as well and still fish a half dozen Curados and Citicas but I can't think of anything the DC doesn't do better.

The more I think about it,  since I'll be doing a bunch of pitching and flipping the DC probably isn't necessary

I would opt for a Daiwa with the magforce magnetic system then. At least in my opinion, I get more spool control to pitch with them.

What models have the magforce?

I haven't even thought about that reel. Have you used one,  if so what do you think?

Magforce is Daiwas magnetic braking system. I was just using the name.

Curious which model citica do you have that feels bulky?

I have a DC7 and it does not do well with pitching. The DC technology at least on the one I have is good for casting.
