Picked up a leftover 2018 18TRX today. Dealer had it marked way down and I couldn't pass it up. Seams amazing to me that that 18 footer is rated for a 200, but very cool. Came with the 200 pro xs 2 stroke. Guess mercury now has all 4 bangers for 2019.

The 2 stroke weigh less than half of what the 4 strokes weigh. I have a 4 stroke and really like it but it's HEAVY

I recommend the app called TapaTalk. Makes picture posting breeze. Just point, click, and post. That easy.

The new Merc 4 strokes are supposed to be lighter than the 2 strokes. Lou got it right with Tapatalk. Pics, we live for pics, we need lots and lots of pics, no boat if no pics, we get all kinds of twitchy and mean if we don't get ration of pics, boat porn is great, boat porn calms the savage heart, boat porns quiets the crazed mind. We need boat porn!!!!

PS Did I mention we need pics?

So did the all day on the water thing doing the break in in one shot. Motor has me very confused at this point. After the 1 hour not more than 4800 rpm and 3 hours varying speed, I cannot get the motor to spin more than 5100 rpm and gps speed over about 63. Is this normal?

SteveTX

I wouldn't do it but if you want a decent increase in speed take all the power pole stuff out and off. I have read numerous people stating they reduce several mph on one. Other than that fully loaded as it appears I would think its pretty close on mph. I don't know the max RPM on a Merc like yours my old 2 stroke 115hp Johnson peaks at 5500rpm so its close by that gauge.

That's a pretty boat, congrats again on the purchase!

So the 2 month verdict is in. I finally got the speed and rpm thing sorted. From the dealer the motor was 5 inches below pad. After researching I have it at 2 inches below and am turning 5500 rpm with 26 psi of water pressure at best 70.3 mph gps. Now on to my only gripe. My live wells will not stay full when I switch to recirculating mode. I filled them with a garden hose in the yard and it will slowly drain back through the fill pumps. Any advice would be appreciated. Don't think a new boat should have this problem.

Why do you do you need to go 70mph?

~Barry~

Only reason that I can give is because it can. I don't run full speed much, but I cannot let the boat not be set up for it's maximum potential. Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

BarryFL

Fair enough. As for your live well, I dont think it draining through the fill pumps. My old Triton fill nozzle in the live well was at the top above the full water line. Is it draining to your bilge? I had a cracked pump housing on a recirc pump that leaked into my bilge.

Not to the bilge at all. When filled and on trailer, I see water coming out of holes with the screens on transom

Ahh, the savage heart is stilled!!!  Nice looking boat!!! ~c~ ~c~ ~c~
Wtodd, how old is 4 stroke, this is Mercs newest design and is supposed to be lighter than the 2 strokes it replaces.

Where are your fill nozzles in the live well? Assuming they are at the top, I dont understand how water can go out that way.

My 4 stroke is an '18; I think mine is 200+ heavier than the 2 strokes. The 4 stroke is ridiculously cheap on gas

Nozzles are at top however, it looks like the fill pump serves double duty as the recirculating pumps as well.
