I am considering buying a 2008 TR186 with a 2007 Mercury 150 EFI two stroke.  The motor has about $250 on it, and the boat is in very good shape, excellent shape I would say for its age, always kept in a shop.  It has a Lowrence hook five in the consul and another hook five on the casting deck.  It has a Minnkota edge 70 pound trolling motor, and two new batteries.  They are asking $15,000, wondering if this is a fair deal? What is the opinion of this particular model? I've never owned a triton boat. I appreciate any honest feedback, thank you

I have a very similar boat (185 with 150 Opti) and have had it since 2011 and I love it. I'm sure you will too. Rides really good in all water conditions for a boat of it's size.

As for the price, since I am not US based, I can't help you. Hopefully someone will be along soon to help you out.

I'm no boat expert but that seems a little high to me. Of course I'm not standing there looking at it either. I'm just thinking its now over 10 years old the electronics aren't stellar and the TM is a low end unit even if it was new. A quick glance at NADA is showing average at retail at $9,330.
Now if it has 2 Talons, new tires, new batteries, and its exceptionally clean that can change the perception.

For comparison I have a 2008, 20x2 with a 250 Opti (60 hours on the motor) that I paid $25k for in 2012 with better electronics, trolling motor and one power pole.

It's a great boat. Solid, handles rough water well and is well thought out.

I think that price is a little high but boats are the worst investment you can make. It's going to be worth about $5k in resale in a few years.

If you think you will get $10k of fun out of it, then buy it.

Thanks for the feedback. When I looked at the NADA $9330.was for the boat only, with the motor it showed around $13800., am I reading this wrong? If the price you quoted is for boat and motor, then it is grossly overpriced.

You may be right about the NADA pricing. I just did it really quick and like I said I m no boat expert. lo

Just my personal opinion I wouldn't put close to $15,000 towards a boat and engine that old. I understand it may look really nice but as cheap as boat payments are on a modern boat I would probably go that route.

The deal is dead, I offered him 13,800, and he denied it. Thanks for the advice. It's worth what it's worth, that's it.

Sounds like he is not wanting to sell.  8)
