Is anyone else noticing the lack of grass on historically grassy lakes.
On the west side of Pa. Wilhelm, Arthur, and Pymatuning are losing more and more vegetation every year. Wilhelm is well documented and shad are the problem. Early spring you will notice grass starting to grow but by the time summer starts grass is near impossible to find.

But this only explains one lake. Pymy and Arthur are losing grass at an alarming rate. Areas that used to be impenetrable have at best scattered grass.

Is anyone else experiencing this in your area?

I noticed that some of the reservoirs down in MD were also lighter on grass this year. One theory I heard(and makes sense to me) is that the long winter last year caused the grass to get a late start and then all of the rain kept the water murkier than usual not allowing as much grass to grow.
I definitely noticed that some areas that traditionally had grass was devoid of it last season. Hopefully we get a little less rain this year. I felt like Mother Nature was water boarding us last year!

Oh yes the rain has not stopped since last spring. That will put a hurt on the grass.

I've even noticed a reduction of grass in some once grassy ponds.
