I use a trailer hook on buzz baits and spinnerbaits most of the time. This was passed on down to me by a former bass club member: cut a small piece out of a plastic milk jug and use a small hole punch to punch out small plastic circles which you can then use as trailer hook keepers. Simply put the trailer hook over existing bait hook and push one of these plastic punches over the bait hook to prevent trailer hook from falling off.

Now I see that Mike Cork already posted this tip - sorry for the duplicate tip and post.

I use surgical tubing.  I cut the tube down to 1/4 inch sections.  I attached it to the main hook a couple different ways.  #1 I'll slide the tube over the trailer hook eye and then run the main hook through the tube and trailer hook eye.   This keeps the trailer hook straight behind the main hook.

#2 I'll attach the trailer hook to the main hook the normal way.  I'll then take the tube and force it over the main hook.  On this method I'll then trim down any excess tubing off.  I'll leave just enough to keep the trailer hook from coming off the main hook.   This method allows the trailer to 'Free hang' off the main hook.

Most of the time I use method # 1.

I've sat watching tv while working with a paper punch and an awl, you can make a lifetime supply in just an evening or 2.

Shrink tubing also works well. Just a few seconds with a lighter well shrink it to fit.

I like my trailer hooks free swinging at all times. I use a combination of clear skirt collars and clear earring backings to keep them on the hook..

I make up a bunch of them ahead of time by stretching the collar open and inserting the earring backing. Either one by itself doesn't fit right but when you combine them it's perfect.

The collars have rattle holders on them so I can add some additional sound for a different presentation. Works sometimes if the fish have already been hammered by spinnerbaits.

I fished with a guy several weeks ago that had two trailer hooks on a hollow body frog.  I have never seen this before but first cast he had the big fish of the day hooked up on one of the trailers.  Has anyone seen someone do this before on a Hollow Body Frog?

Nope and if he did that here they better have a wire weed guard on them or he will be hauling pad salad to the boat all day. And look like this  ~rant

Hooks were naked, both were curved up, and he stuck to the outside edges of the pad fields.  Did not have any problems doing it as long as he stuck to edges.

Swede, you can sit watching tv and make a five year supply in an evening. Use an awl to to punch a small hole through the middle, makes it easier to put the hook through. Hooks swing freely behind these and they hold the hook very well.
