I know not everyone feels the way my wife and I do about dogs. But for us, they are our kids. Last night, we had to say goodbye to one of our kids. As with all our dogs (we have 3 others), they are all rescues. It was clear this sweet pup had a rough life before we rescued her over 3 years ago. We gave her the best life we could, but cancer finally did her in. Chemo treatments didn't work and the tumors doubled in size over the last couple months. People have a negative impression about pitbulls and pit mixes, but she was the absolute nicest, sweetest, most pathetic dog I've ever met. I don't even know how to process it so it's just being suppressed, and I don't think it's really even hit me yet.

It's never easy to say goodbye to a member of the family. I still remember my first from 58 years ago. I remember them all, Minie, Dutchess, Cleo, Tip, Tip, Daisy, Ginger, and my last, Bianca, miss them all.

Sorry for your loss Brandon. Find some comfort in the fact that you were able to give her three very good years. Ours is every bit as much family as any blood relative and I prefer my dog over quite a few blood relatives.

I've had to deal with the Loss of several dogs in my life, the last one had cancer and while I thought I had watched her die several times, each time she came back to life, now that is hard.

Eventually I had to realise it was time to left her go. She had become a shell of what she once was and could not control herself any longer. We made the decision to put her down.

I cried like a baby afterward as I lay her in the bed of my truck. Cried even more as I laid her in the ground. Crying now as I write this at that memory.

I swore I would never have another, but after some years passed we did and now have two. They really become part of who you are and you carrying them with you long after they are gone.

Sorry for your loss, been there my friend and it sucks,

Mother and I are also pitty people, we've had many and have had to watch several pass, they are a short lived breed and prone to cancers/tumors. I am always thankful that they got to live with us, because there are so many cruel people in the world especially when it comes to pits. We've had and still have rescues. About 4 years ago we lost three (one each year) brutal.

Hang in there, love the ones you still have and soon another rescue will need your help...

I'm with Lee, Dogs are better than humans and losing one really hurts.
So sorry to hear of your loss. I had a pitbull that looked just like yours. It was the sweetest dog I've ever owned and a great baby sitter.

Sorry for your loss Brandon. It's certainly a very difficult thing to lose family.
Like some others I prefer dogs over humans. I too had a very tough time when my lab mix Bella passed away earlier this year.
We do what we can to give them the best life possible.
