Trolling motor

Do you turn off your trolling motor speed control before you lift it to store, after storing or not at all?

The only time I turn my trolling motor off is when I'm done fishing and putting the boat back on the trailer.  As far as the speed control goes Nope I leave it set on the setting I had been using.
