typical temps for this time of  year are for mid-70s for  highs.  we do catch a break about thursday with temps.

you all will be okay.

Roger.   Typical and UB rally's don't usually line up  lo

Better chance to have better weather. I'm suggesting mid October.

Mid Oct to end of Nov has always been the best times on Gunt!

I second that!!!

deep ledges can be anywhere from 14 - 20 feet.

the river gets over 50 feet in spots the closer you get to the dam.

but also, there are a lot of small humps that go to about 6 feet with the grass just under the surface and drop off sharply into rock or old road beds

part of that key has to be chickamauga drawing down to winter pool.  so about mid Oct they start spilling more water and more constantly.  given it doesn't just go down to Nick/Guntersville and stop/hold, that current ought to get things moving.

keeping levels up and moving.  mats really get 'good' in Oct/Nov anyway.  and weather's not that bad.  air temps might be a bit cooler than some want, but water temps will moderate that and it's pretty pleasant out there.

on a different note:  guntersville catches a lot of wind.  chickamauga doesn't.  a day on the Chick with double-digit winds is abnormal, and then, given it's orientation, lots of places to stay out of wind if needed.

I'll be waiting to hear what Princeton Man has to say from his quick visit.

I understand that Guntersville is a world class bass fishing destination, But.....has anyone given any thoughts towards moving the rally up to Tennessee perhaps at Chic or one of the other great locations up thataway?

bud:  right now, chick is fishing tough.  water temps are still well up in 80s.  fish are, a lot of them, off the ledges and filtering with the shad into fall patterns.  in about a week or two, with overnights supposed to be getting into the 50's, it's supposed to be 'on'.

still, big fish are caught.  they do live here.

we're only about a 2 hours up the road from where you all are staying.  not a far drive at all.  easy enough to take a day day trip.

the big girls, though?  DEC-JAN-FEB-MAR

same as Guntersville.

I'd be game for a TN trip too, but it is fun to hit lakes I haven't fished

Coldfront.  I still want to go there one day.  My thinking is I would probably hire Jake Davis to guide me to the good spots.  Don't want to spend the time needed to find the fish myself.  It does not have to be Chic just someplace to find brown fish.  It has been a long time since I have had the pleasure that smallmouth can bring to the party.  Thinking back it has been about 30 years since my smallmouth fishing days.

I'm basically all set, as per Lee's instructions, each of my reels serve a specific purpose, and the countdown clock is winding down. Looking forward to meeting everyone. For those of you who are meeting LMG for the first time in person, I'm sorry.
