Fish the Gravois Arm again today 'cuz I LIKE getting beat up...

Air temps 74-88. Partly cloudy and windy, 20-25 mph out of the South. Water temps 80-85, water clarity 4-5 feet on the main lake, maybe 18" in the creeks. When I arrived at 6:45 AM the lake was near full pool, but it dropped about a foot and-a-half during the day.

The bite is tough as usual. There were some schooling fish early off of main creek points, but they were mostly small. Caught them on a Spook, and they didn't mess around. Also had one Wiper at about eight pounds.

The deep bite has moved or quit. My 25-40' deep brushpiles are shadless and fishless. In fact, I never caught a bass over 14-15' deep. I caught every one of those bass on a ten-inch Doc Irving worm in Electric Blue. But I only had a (small) handful of (small) keepers today. I hate September.

The shad are still in the creeks and pockets, but they're only moving up early and late. The small fish are there with them now, some.

It was a very tough 11 hours... I lost a bass of about 4-1/2 pounds or so, then spent over an hour as I worked that stretch three times, for just two more small fish.

I hate September.

That's all the detail that you'll get for now- I have tournament coming up soon (yep, can you believe it?) and a girl's gotta have her secrets.

Thank you Donald!

Fish every day? Hmmm... I wish.

I do fish, sometimes, 3-4 days a week. And if my health allows it, I intend to do more. And my wife? She knew right off what she was gettin' into. She knew me for years before we became  a THANG.

And remember- I fished just about TWELVE TIMES between March of 2001 and August of 2016. So, I'm trying to catch up!
