Fished the Gravois Arm again today because I'm a glutton for punishment.

The lake is basically at full pool, air temps were 70-96, and water temps were 82-88 depending on water clarity and location. Some of the warmest water is the dingier water in the creeks. The day started off sunny, went to party sunny, then full clouds, then back the other way. Winds were changeable with gusts to 21 mph. Water clarity ranged from 6+ feet in the main Gravois, to a couple of feet of visibility in the creeks, to less than a foot in the backs.

Buzzbaits and swim jigs produced around shallow wood early in the day back in the creeks. I missed one about four pounds because I'm silly- the little fish were eatin' it up. I think that I could have stayed with these fish and worked it out as the day progressed, but I quit on them about 8 AM, and pulled my boat to my dealership for a new prop and motor cowling.

Back on the water at 10 and went lookin' deep. It was a very bad deal for a long time- but you can catch dinks almost anywhere in 12-18' of water on worms.

Finally got into better fish after noon. The bite started at about 27' and I caught them as deep as a verified (vertical jigging) 47'. Almost all of these fish were suspended, mostly over brushpiles. A 1/2 and 3/4 oz. football head jig with a Doc Irving 4" double tail was the bait. I did catch a few on a worm, but they liked the jig. I didn't get a fish to measure for the UB IBass tournament- I don't think I had a fish over three pounds all day.

Although I was in the Gravois and there is no current from power generation I could still definitely tell when they cranked it up as the keeper fish went slightly shallower (22-25') and quit the suspending crap.

Sorry, I know this isn't much- I really need about three days on the water in a row to get my head back in the game. Night fishin' is the answer here, but it's not for me on the big LOZ. Also, getting on the main channel when they're generating makes the catchin' a lot easier.

Good stuff as always Dale!   ~c~

No solid thermocline- I think it's the power generation that kills it. There's fish down to 80'...
