Fished US 27 in the Everglades today with Rick.

The conditions were:
Partly cloudy
Hot and humid
Temps in the 90's
Winds Light from the ESE
Water levels high
Water Clarity Clear

We arrived at the ramp at 645 a.m. and Rick took his first cast at 7am with his Teckler frog and hooked up right away.  lo This was either going to be a good thing or bad thing since he caught a fish on his first cast, but fortunately for us it was a good thing. I hooked up shortly after and for the next 2 hours the bass were consistently smashing our frogs.

At around 10 am the action came to a dead halt. The fish would not hit a darn thing. We would manage couple of fish here and there, but the aggressive bite sadly disappeared.  :'(

By noon time dark clouds were forming around us in the distance and I decided to call the trip. Took a look at my counter, and we successfully boated 24 bass.

Day in Perspective: Rick as always, fun trip, with a couple of pretty good laughs that made our bellies cramp.  lo lo  The fishing was fast and furious for 2 straight hours and then stopped cold. We suspected the bite would have picked up later in the afternoon, but with the storms and brutal humid heat, we weren't going to stick around and test that theory.  lo But, all in all 24 fish in 5 hours of fishing is pretty darn good. Thanks for reading.

As Lou mentioned the first cast made caught my biggest fish at 16". It was skinny as heck too. A few fish caught were chunky but some were downright anorexic. The fish were hitting the frog with precision today and very few strikes missed the mark. It was easy to tell they were getting it good because many of the times the frogs were deep in their mouths.
I tried several different frogs, starting with the Tekle Sprinker frog in white. Then a Terminator frog which I like the action but after 3 or 4 fish the nose ripped up and the frog started taking water in.
Afterwards I went to a booyah popper and caught some on that till the cup tore.
Eventually my back was giving me trouble and I slowed down with a worm. Tried a stick bait, uvibe, and fluke with a 1/16oz and nothing. Went to a 6" stick bait weightless and managed to catch some fish on that when the frog bite seemed to have died off for the most part.

Had a great time. Thanks Lou! ~beer~

Good to see the birthday boys back in action. Nice job! Rick, have you had the chance to give the sprinkler frog a good enough workout for a review? I'm also wondering how the new Booyah version is? Thanks again for the report!

Flats, well I've used it quite a bit. I've caught something like 3 or 4 bass on it so far and it has held up.
I also have the booyah one. I have not caught any fish on the booyah.

They are similar in action, but the booyah frog has a sturdier boot tail that out can bend to your liking. The boot makes different noise depending on how you set it.

The Sprinker frog is a little lighter, and also has a more streamline body, it gets through stuff easier than the Booyah.

They are both situational frogs in my opinion. If the bass are hitting topwater baits that move fast then these frogs excel. They have the option of being stopped without sinking which makes them great.

Before I could give a full review on either one I would like to see just how durable they really are.

Well guys, glad you found some willful participants out there.  Was there current flowing south from the Holey Land area?  It's amazing how the bite can just shut off as the sun gets high in the sky in the summer months.  WTG, even with the first cast curse! ~c~

Awesome report! But rick I have a question... Does Lou always put you in back of the boat?  :-\
