Partly cloudy at when I started at noon, not a cloud to be seen when I quit at 5... Wind North, northwest 5-15 mph, air temps 83-89 degrees, water temps 84-85 on the main channel, and up to 89 in the coves/pockets, cooler in the very backs. Water clarity barely over a foot most places, maybe a little clearer in the coves. But it's that nice dingy GREEN color that works so well.

Like I said, I got started late and didn't fish that long. The bite is weird, but I haven't been fishin' enough to get on 'em and stay on 'em. I haven't fished this part of the lake in years and years. And years.

The ONLY thing I caught fish on was a Bream-colored (Blue, Light Green, Copper, Chartreuse) 3/8 oz. jig with a Doc Irv 4" twin tail in Green Pumpkin. I was swimming it fairy quickly, and even caught my first keeper maybe ten minutes in on my first stop. I never caught a fish with the jig on the bottom and never got bit on any of the worms I threw, or the crankbaits. Weird.

I only fished about five spots total, and did a lot of lookin' around. There are, as I suspected, some shad in the backs of pockets with these cooler nights, but the bass haven't followed them yet. Every fish I caught came on main river docks in less than five feet of water.

They started generating power about 3:30, but I was already aiming to quit. But I never got a bite with the water runnin', either.

Weird.

Never caught fish big enough for IBass either. But it was a very pleasant day on the water for late July.

After a day like that, I hope you stopped at Big Dick's Halfway Inn for refreshment and visual entertainment.

I'd figure the running water would have turned them on a bit.

Stayed above Dick's. Didn't shoot no minners, either.

Truthfully, several hours of this is all I can take right now and still walk away. I need to wait until late afternoon and let the running water come to ME. I did it on Truman a few weeks ago, and it made for a better day.
