This was my first time at this park lake!  I have been scoping it out on google maps and fishbrain for a few weeks.  Finally got the chance to do some fishing!  Here is the google earth of the lake

I have seen a bunch of nice size 2-3lbs bass pictures from this lake.

I started out throwing a jika rig with a black and blue craw around the dock.  The water was very muddy!  Then stared to work my way around the lake.  Bouncing between that and a square bill.

Wasn't getting any bites but the weather was beautiful in the shade so I started playing around with my baitcaster.  Practicing different techniques like skipping and flipping.  Then this happen  ~b~

and about 15-20 mins later

Then I lost a lure on a tree under water  :'(

So I moved back to the jika rig and then after a bit went to texas rig with the craw after a bit switching to a worm.

All in all 0 bites so that sucks but I feel this lake has potential and I know it has fish.  I was trying to move quick as I really didn't have the time to try a bunch of things or really give it the time it deserved.

I enjoyed the weather and after everything found another possible fishing spot in some woods by the river

Hard to see but it is a decent little size pond!

Thank you for sharing your report the_huber_show. Sometimes we strike out on an outing, but your persistence will payoff soon enough.

Hoping so!  They even had a small gravel boat ramp.  If I can use a kayak in there then we are talking about some possibilities

Heck if there's a boat ramp you should be able to float your yak in there. That would give you move areas to fish and fine them fish.  ;D

I fished Bee Tree often in the 1980's as I was living very close. Lots of anglers. lots of shoreline pressure as it is shore fishing only. There are lots of catfish of all sizes, crappie and bass up to 10 pounds. The problem is lots of anglers fishing from shore. The bass have become conditioned not to live or bite near shore during the day. And you can only fish till dusk when the park closes. The bass have to be feeding at night. I stopped fishing there but did go to test baits. A beautiful park.
You might consider entering the drawing to fish at Lone Elk County Park in West county. It has  a great fishing lake but because they don't want the Elk herd disturbed, only 1 angler is permitted to fish it per month. The lucky angler gets to fish the lake for 6 hrs. The county provides a boat to the angler. It's only from May-Sept. You can enter at any county conservation office.

I def believe that Wizard.  I have seen some good fish caught out of there recently.  The day I went a good size cat was caught and as I was leaving a 2lb bass  ~rant

I didn't know that about Lone Elk!  I will have to look into it

First thank you for taking the time to post a great detailed report.

I would try topwater, I'd try a frog in the scum around the lake, bass will get shallow, very shallow, and if they can hide their eyes they believe they are hiding their whole body. Frog on the edge of the scum.

Second is a spook type bait as far as you can cast to the middle. If the lake has a bunch of other species in it, then bigger bass may never come shallow except to spawn. I've seen on smaller lakes where a topwater over the deepest water available draws a vicious strike or two.

Just food for thought if you go again.

I did throw a frog but it was a cheap one and kept taking in to much water.  I def want to try some of the new ones I have coming there.  The one challenge is the when looking at the lake on the picture.  The bottom half is all covered with trees and high grass along the edges with openings every now and then.  You don't have a lot of access to hit along the banks on that side.  Now the top half is all really accessible.  I need to pick up a spook and give it a try.  Might try the whopper plopper next time too.

Hoping to get back there Sunday evening!
