...for Blues, Purples, Greens and Greys.

I tend to break things fishin' related to seasons, but not seasons based on weather, at least not mostly. So seasonal colors for me begins with late winter and early spring, where I start off with shad/chrome, switching to the crawdad black/brown/red season, and so on. Later on this early summer we'll go back into the shad thing. This is how I roll here in my part of the country.

And now, this time of the year, is when I go to the Bluegill/Bream/Sunfish deal, at least for a few weeks. I'm throwing Jigs with all FOUR of the title colors in them. Plastic baits go to plums/purples etc. it's just what works for me (of course there are exceptions- you NEVER tie yourself to anything in fishin'). A little splash of chartreuse never hurts, either.

There's also a point in early summer when bass around here go back on the crawfish pretty hard, about the time they leave the banks, and the brown/orange, brown/greens and brown/blues work great for me.

There's so many variables to consider, with the most important being water clarity, but that's for you to sort out and what keeps it fun and interesting. And while I'm not as much into colors as some, I do believe that "matching the hatch" is a good place to start.

So some of ya'll have Blueback Herring, some have Shiners, Chubs, etc. But we ALL have the sunfish thing, so for me going into early summer, my fashion statement is Blue, Purple, Green and Grey.

Here's tip for ya'll- call it a bonus? A month or so after the spawn, a baby bass colored crankbait or Rat L Trap-style bait can get pretty vicious. Nobody ever talks about that much.

Dale tks for sharing this information.  For me right now Greens with a little Red mixed in have been the ticket for me.  I like chucking Rattle Traps and I have some that are in the baby bass color.  I'll have to dust them off and tie one on.

I talked about catching small gills in another thread. Tomorrow I'll be using a smoke/purple fleck tube, a small sunfish color spinnerbait and  a white/purple speckled "Tiny N" crankbait. Those gills will be looking to steal some bass eggs or fry.

My jigs this year have had green, brown, and fitted with watermelon candy trailers with a touch of chartreuse. Cranks and spinnerbaits have failed me so far, so far......
