Messenger Kitten

The past week or so, I've been getting visited by a ginger Tom. Really sweet kitty, comes when called and if you sit down he climbs right in your lap.

I'm a softy for all animals, so am slightly worried he may be homeless or abandoned. He has no collar or ID, and is intact. He has a docked ear which is what they do with feral tnr in the area, but his behavior definitely isnt feral. Overall he seems clean, and never is overly hungry or thirsty. He doesn't belong to anyone in the direct area, I went door knocking.

I'd love to find him a home if he needs one, but at the same time don't want to swoop away someone's pet. So today I put a collar on him with a little note attached. Let's see if I get a response or if I continue to see him with the note still there...

As of this morning I havent heard back. No kitty yet either but he usually comes late morning/early afternoon. I'm booked for a half day trip this afternoon, I'll see if he comes before I head out.
I live in a smallish 1 bedroom town house and already have two cats. I'd love to keep him, but also don't know if that's the most responsible or fair thing to do. I do have a friends who's cat just passed away at age 18, so if it comes down to it, I may see if she wants him. He's a darn cuddly and sweet cat and definitely deserves a good home.
I also learned a local vet does microchip checks for free, so if I continue to see him with the note still attached I think that will be my next step.

Ok, he came back just as I was getting ready to leave, and hopped right in the Jeep as I was loading it up.
He still had the collar on, however the note was missing. I found myself doubting if the note fell off. So I rewrote the note, pretty much saying the same thing. But this time I wrote "unfold and read me" on the outside and taped the absolute bejeezus out of it. No way its falling off this time.
I just got back and he doesn't appear to be around. We got a storm brewing right now, hope he has a place to hunker down or that he returns.

I know this is an old thread but I don't venture into this board much.

Any updates on the kitty?  Did anyone contact you or maybe you kept or found a good home?
