Frog line?

Ok I use 50 lb. braid for frogs in Pa. and have no problems getting fish back to the boat.
Now I am heading to the swamps of Louisiana in May and was told to bring heavy gear and lots of frogs.
Is 50 lb. braid going to work or should I move up to 65 lb. ?

I fish in similar swamps in South FL, and I throw 50lb. But if you really want peace of mind, go with the advice you were given and spool 65lb.

Ive never seen where I would need any more than 50lb braid. Even prepared myself with 65lb braid for Guntersville. Once I was there I seen they got less abrasive stuff than we do where they frog.

I have drug stumps off the bottom with 30 lb. braid and never could figure out why you had to go so heavy for weeds. But I rarely slop fish and thought there might be a reason for it.

You will have your heart broken if you fish with 30lb braid in our swamps. Just the hookset alone will snap the line. Lol!!

Oh I've seen it and fished around it. Did not have the equipment to even think about fishing it then.
That is why I'm asking the  " experts ".

I lost a frog on hookset to a big ol pig of a bass using 40lb braid.
Not worth the risk. Go 50 or 65 and have more peace of mind. There is absolutely no reason to go any less. Most reels can hold enough 50 or 65 to make very long casts if needed.
It isn't a finesse style of fishing. So line diameter being thinner doesn't help none.

I've lost a few frogs to gators, they blend into the cover so well.

No. Especially when their heads are just below the surface and you think a 10lb bass just hit your frog.

I hate it when that happens, cuz you leave the frog in the strike zone long enough, thinking the explosion was huge fish until you see the teeth and your too late!!

Uh.... yeah.... I hate losing frogs, but safety first. I have way too much respect towards gators to bring them to the boat and try to salvage a bait. I did when I was yonger and I had a couple of close calls with their whipping tails.

Well, some of us are.  I was getting my frog back from the 4fter I brought on a boat one time.

I use 65 over here because under all that grass is a chit load of wood

On Caddo I would use the 65.  On other lakes around here I use 50.  Doesn't matter they don't like my frogs anyway! 
I use 65 on Whopper Flopper thing because they cost too much to lose!
