Well ANOTHER Icast 2017 introduction.
Yo-Zuri 3DB Knuckle Bait Spinnerbait

Well this is ACTUALLY considered a 'WIRE BAIT'.....guess because there aren't any SPINNERS on it?  lo

Developed and tested for nearly three years, the Knuckle Bait is now ready to hit the American market. (Yo-Zuri is a company out of Japan)
When this bait is retrieved, the ball wobbles in an erratic action, much like a knuckleball thrown from the pitcher's mound.

Bobby Lane has fished it for a year.
(Boy Lane's hot on the endorsement trail this year)

Pros;
1) very unique action...as said...almost a 'swim jig' type action.
2) Very strong wire...avoid retuning or bending after every fish.
3) The 'ball' makes the bait kind of 'wobble'....which should give a swimbait trailer a GREAT swimming action at ANY speed.
4) Comes through 'cover' extremely easy/good.
5) The 'jig' portion of the head has a flat bootom....good for slow rolling on bottom and over rock/boulders.
6)  Unique action that...new to high pressured fish/waters.

Cons;
!)  cost $7.99-$8.99......
2)  is it a swimjig trade off/replacement or a hairpin spinning bait trade off. ( in other words...do you fish them where/when you would traditionally throw a hairpin or where you would traditionally toss a swimjig)?
For many.....you fish a swimjig where/when you would a hairpin any ways......I use swims more period...but a spin bait only/usually with slight chop and cloudy.
3) trailer options MAY BE limited....but I'm seeing a swimbait trailer as the only real trailer to use????
Guess like a 4in Fat Albert grub or a fat longer grub may work????
4)  Wish they came in Prism AND Rattle Versions....not either OR.

OK Pro Staff (members) WHAT'S YOUR THOUGHTS?
Anyone fish them yet?
Anyone 'going to' fish them?  lo
When/where do you think they would be effective?

Side note, Florida Gang....through my 'anal' over research......I found the BEST comments from the Okeechobee Anglers....many talk about multiple 5+ ibers in a single outting????? 8) :)

This is a trip and I wanted some of the pro's play with it before. Really seems silly to me, but last weekend I was wondering if it wouldn't have been the ticket, less flash, different noise and vibration. I think I'm going to get a couple and play with them and see what happens.

It's just something different. I could be just that something that they haven't seen and are willing to eat. Or it could only be effective when they would eat a regular spinnerbait anyway. I think this bait is going to come down to a matter of it could, possibly, maybe, produce one or two more bites in a tournament day when the spinnerbait and swim jig are already working. So if you don't have high confidence in it, it's going to be useless in ones arsenal.

Obviously I dont know but I think it could be effective when they would eat a regular spinnerbait. Not sure I buy that its so different that in the exact same situation with a spinnerbait your not going to get the same strike. But who knows It may bring all the big ones out that are so old they remember Disco. lo

Kris

Ok! Looks like I need to add something else to the arsenal this year. At least one in white, shad or bluegill to test it out.

It'll either be the biggest dud of the year or the greatest thing since braid. Remember the Flying Lure or Helicopter Lure?

Pretty much covers every new lure ever made.  ::)

I think I remember when Plastic worms first hit the market.....never work, fish will NEVER bite a piece of PLASTIC.
Pork Trailers got similar responses.....doesn't look or act like any frog I've seen.
Heck, I think even Graphite and Fiberglass fishing poles got a similar response....never beat Bamboo.,...PLASTIC fishing pole.....crazy, Fiberglass is way to brittle.

As are most young folks today!!!
The Flying Lure didn't cut it but the funny thing is we like baits that glide and ones that can glide backwards. I have a kit that I received from my daughter as a b'day present, I know exactly where it is!!!

Resistance to change is the greatest enemy to creativity and innovation!
My comment about the disco was purely in jest. Just look at it, it looks like an actual disco ball!

I defended the Concept Z for virtue of being a new twist on old tech...
Then I held one.

I bet this lure will catch some fish. Only reason the WP caught on is because it was catching fish... it's also just a new twist on old tech. It's a floating prop bait, just like a Heddon Torpedo. Just a different shaped tail that makes a plopping noise. Mine's gotten strikes but no takers. One of these days though...

This thing, as Anal pointed out, is like a swim jig/spinner bait combo, and fish ain't seen it yet.
I'd be happy to try one out. And it's at a price that I may be willing to pay.

Kris

I have one Whopper Plopper in Loon that I have tried a lot, still no takers. I still have my Woodchoppers, Zara Spooks and other top waters that I know will catch fish. Not sure it will be easy Walking the Dog in this boat because the gunwale is in the way.
I will throw it in the mornings as it starts to warm up this Season. I am sure there will be a time, place and taker that wants that exact sound at least once. You gotta give em what they want, where they want and when they want. Damn shame we can't make the decision on what they will eat today. I guess we would have to call it Catching.

Looks nice. I like that falling action!  Most of my lakes arent very clear.  Stained dingy water. Don't know how this would be for that. Also wonder how that ball holds up hitting wood and rocks. Interesting bait. Wish it came in darker colors too

The holigraphic is for clear water....the Painted Ball one's have a Rattle in the ball.
My understanding is the balls Polycarbonate is the actual color...not painted.
So who knows?

I bought one of these, and tossed it around some yesterday to see how it performed. I really liked it. The action in it was very impressive.

I went to my HOA pond just too see how this looked in the water. I haven't been able to really fish with it yet.

Justin62882

itll catch fish. Will it catch more fish than a dollar spinnerbait from Wal-Mart. Maybe some days maybe not. Bass are curious. Its lik3 when i drive down the road everyday and see a classic car like a 69 camaro or even  a lambo it gets my attention. Bass use there curiosity to eat something out of the normal at times I believe. And sometimes something they havent seen before can be beneficial. I have no doubts it'll catch fish  I dont think its a magical bait. It'll have it's times like most other baits

I knew I had seen it somewhere on UB. I just bought a couple and will try them out this Season. What the hell, nothing beats a try like a failure.

I gave the knuckle bait a little try. Bass didn't seem interested.
