I am headed to Lake Eufaula in April. We are staying at Lakepoint State Park from the 2nd to the 9th. Have never fished there and four of us (ex AF) buddies are having a good old boy tournament. I'm coming from Ca, on from Pa and the other two live in Fl. Can anyone start me off in the right direction to fish that lake and have fun? Would appreciate any and all responses. Thanks in advance.

Lakepoint is located on Cowikee Creek which is maybe the best creek on the lake.  I don't get up there as much as I used to but in early April there will still be some fish spawning plus some post-spawn fish.  That should be one of the best times of the year and it's a good time to fish anything you like, topwater, spinnerbaits, vibrating jigs, swim jigs, worms, you name it.

On the South end of the lake you can probably get some action cranking docks, not the largest fish maybe but lots of fun.  That's a little early to fish main lake ledges but the points, drops and creek channels should be in play if the shallow bite is slow.  Hydrilla is beginning to be a real factor on the lake now but I'm not on the lake enough to know if it is a player that early in the year or not.

It's a good lake and I'd like to fish it more but it's a couple of hours from me which makes for a long day for an old coot.

Been 12 years since my last trip there, also in early April, but you can catch fish in the creek that Lake Point is on and never make it to the main lake. My all time biggest fish came from there as did my best one day weight in a tournament(different days) and all within a 2 miles of the resort. Should be able to catch fish on most baits at that time of year but spinner baits and lizards worked for me. Good Luck and have fun with your buddies most importantly.
Retired and loving every minute of it!
