Well, it's that time of year again to get all my permits and licenses ready. A couple days ago I went on-line and renewed my Pennsylvania (Out of State) License for this Season. A might expensive at almost $55.00 but you gotta pay to play. Their license runs the calendar year so I wanted it done.
Today my wife and I rode down to Brighton Dam and got my 2018 permit. If you are like me, a word of warning. That kinda log cabin office that we used to go to has been leveled. There is a new office to be constructed but they are looking at maybe May. There is a temporary office just a little above the old parking lot if you are coming in from New Hampshire Avenue (Rt 650). Today there are blue WSSC flags in front of the parking lot. Not to say they will be there in March. The permit office is in front of the trailer in a little brown shack. Electronic renewals start in March according to their website. Thought I would give ya'll a warning because I missed it on my first pass to go there.
My Maryland fishing licensed doesn't need to be renewed until March and that worries me a little. I do have the Senior Combination License, than you State of Maryland, and in all probability I could forget to renew it before I start fishing this Season. I need to do a little checking and see how early I can pay it and if I can change the renewal date to sometime near the First of the Year.
Hope everyone is surviving the cold and getting all of your stuff ready for 2018 fishing Season.

I need to go through my licenses and set my reminders. Every year I buy annual licenses for four states and I think most expire one year from date of purchase. WV does things differently, doesn't matter when you buy it, it expires 12/31.

Kris- Did you have a chance to see how low they dropped Triadelphia? How about the work on the dam- is it progressing? Thanks

There is construction on the area above where the office was all the way down including the dam. We saw a half dozen workers on the office area and you could hear work going on at the dam. Water looked to be way down but I really don't have a reference there to be accurate.
I spoke with the lady at permits and she said they are hoping to have the office completed by May for the Season. On the dam repair time she is not sure.

Maryland used to be calendar year on renewal but went to year from purchase date a year or two ago. Reservoir boat use permits are still controlled to cut down on cold weather accidental problems. I think Liberty/Prettyboy run from March 1 to the end of November or a little later. I understand Loch Raven Season is shorter than that. I don't have permits for any of them but Friends do and allow me to go. Most of the lakes I fish have a daily launch fee from $5 - $10. My closest is $8 but has only been fishable shallow for early to mid-Season. Gonna try some deeper stuff there this year.

Kris- I think the time window on the dam repair is 2 years, supposedly opening Triadelphia back up in August of 2019. Thanks

Well, of course I was hoping to hear that they were WAY ahead of schedule but no luck there. I only started fishing Triadelphia and Rocky Gorge in the last two years. I have started fishing PA again this year so that will replace it for now. Since I am like 8 miles from Lower Central PA here it's a no brainer.
I got my stickers for the boat the other day so there is another thing off my list.
