Today's Tip:

If you see a woman looking at lipless crank baits at Cabela's, do NOT ask her if she's shopping for "a pretty bait". She's actually looking for something to CATCH FISH!  ~rant

Thank you.

Heck the guys are looking for pretty baits!  ~shhh

They always say the wide variety of colors and paint schemes is more for the fisherman- er, fisherperson than the fish!

But yeah, I hear ya! I would keep my mouth shut down those aisles...
Words are the exercise for the brain. Words are life expressed... without words we die a slow meaningless death. Silence to the grave is no way to go! So live! Use words! Power of the pen is sharper than any sword! Make it so! Mom said don't surround yourself with idiots! Fly higher than the Eagles... and don't run with the turkeys! Deus Vult!

Yeah, better to err on the side of caution. I never ask,"So, when are you expecting?"  ~b~

I mean, I get it. I'm an anomaly in a (typically) man's sport. But come on. if I just wanted something pretty on my line I'd be looking at colorful jig baits with frilly skirts and a glittered chigger craw trailer.  ~shade

hey now, one of my favorite trailer colors is Zooms blue sappire...

but feel you BG, (yep, skirting the edge there  lo) in today's world, why would that question come up?  why wouldn't a 'sales rep' figure that folks who come in there have a pretty good idea of what they're there for?

The same could be said about a guy looking at finger nail polish in the beauty section. You never know he might be looking to find some polish to paint his jigs with and not  be a Man Card Violation.  ;D

lip, you just have to be comfortable in who you are.  Who are we to judge?
;D

here's the trick question:  what's your favorite color of toenail polish?

Most baits catch consumers. I can catch a bass on a wine cork with a treble hook.  lo
My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

Next time that happens simply tell the jerk,

"Well I'm not really concerned about the color so much.
It's the hooks that concern me most.
Some lures today come with the dullest stock hooks!"

"You mind if I SHOVE ONE UP YOUR A$$..........after all....if I can hook an A$$ with it......I would certainly think it would work on a BASS....right?   ;D

Good luck with the new bait.........some how I think the 'hook set' will be good!  lo

I had no problem buying nail polish for some of my cranks, they have more colors and colors with flake than testors does. lo

1. can you reliably catch a limit?  (and no cheating - you did NOT say you would tie a feather to the hook)
2. would you take that approach in a competitive situation?

;D

The box my Mitchell came in is actually chock full of nail polish right now. After reading Anal's thread on adding a red treble hook to different lures, I've actually been thinking of painting red gill slashes on several of my lures. My daughter's actually been teaching me how to use base coats. I knew what they were and what they do, but I'd never worked with them. So now I'm debating on a plain, darker translucent red flake, darker red, or pearl white base coat with red.
Decisions, decisions...
