This guy never should have slowed down enough for an incoming wave to catch up to him!

Also, is it just me or does his hull seem to be riding low in the water at the bow before this accident which could mean he had lost some buoyancy due to water inside the hull that rolled foward as he slowed down and the stern was lifted up???

This boat looks like it is plowing water running too deep before the accident. Does anyone else see this?

Man I agree it sure looked to be compromised before the final dunking.

From the report, he hit something out at sea and was already taking on water and tried to make it back that's why his life vest was already on, he was prepared.

I knew something about the way that boat was handling in the water did not look right. It looked too heavy and sluggish and was really plowing up the water. And when he slowed down, all that water rolled forward and there was no buoyancy to the bow when the stern was lifted and his forward propeller thrust just drove it under.

You know, if he had kept up his speed into the mouth of the inlet rather than slow down right there he might of made it all the way back.

A 13 year old kid is credited with rescuing the boater:

JUPITER, Fla. (CBS12) —

Drone video from Kevin Cadby captured a 13-year-old boy making a daring rescue Friday afternoon after a boat capsized off the coast of the Jupiter Inlet.

Sam Ruskin and his cousin were surfing at that very moment, just a few hundred yards away.

"At first, we just saw all the boxes from the boat in the middle of the sea, and we were kind of like, 'What's going on?'" Ruskin said.

The Independence Middle School student immediately paddled towards the end of the inlet and gave the man his surfboard.

Ruskin said everything happened so fast.

"It's really strong, I was swimming next to him so I was just kind of struggling, trying to get out of the area because you can get sucked into the jetty," he said.

Ruskin's father, Ryan, said he didn't know the extent of it until he saw the drone footage on Facebook Sunday morning.

"Just speaks about his character," he said. "He didn't even blink an eye, jumped off his board, handed it to a grown man, saved his life. Came back and said, 'Hey what's for dinner dad?'"

Although it can get very dangerous at the Jupiter Inlet, Ruskin said he'd do it again.

"You don't want to go where this guy was because you can get sucked into the jetty," he said. "It's pretty scary if you're in there because you're going to be super fast going through the jetty."

First responders arrived to the scene shortly after to assess the man and make sure he was OK.

Good kid there, parents should be proud that they raised him right.

I'm betting he lost power when the engine was swamped.
