The fall bite is  turning on, I was out on my home water this morning, air temp low 50s, water temp, 60 to 62 depending on where you were. I started with an old Norman square bill, 2 inches long, white, it was made as a price leader for tackle stores. I had it on a 6'6" med baitcaster spooled with 10 lb flourocarbon. I was throwing as shallow as 11/2 feet when I caught my first fish, over the next 45 minutes to an hour I pulled 5 more with only 1 short, my largest was about 2.64 lbs, they came from 11/2 feet to 5 feet of water. I had to head home but I'm sure I could have had good morning if I could have stayed.
It's getting to be time for run and gun throwing horizontal baits.

Nice job Rodney. I think I am going to start playing with some crankbaits a bit more this fall.

To bad you had to quit early, but isn't that the way it usually goes?  I'm still waiting for the fall bite up here.  I'm starting to think it's not going to happen.

Enjoying retirement in the great Pacific Northwest.  I've turned into a fair weather angler.  Why do it today when I can do it tomorrow?

Lip, don't unplug that thing just yet.  Weather permitting I'm going to give it another shot and fishing around here has been tough.
