Went to a new place (new to me) yesterday afternoon after Church.. Bibb County Lake.

$3/person to fish + $3 boat launch fee. The ramp is concrete and in great shape.

There have been some photos floating around facebook (locally) of some 8-10lbers coming out of there so, I had to go give it a shot. It's a beautiful lake. We started on the wind blown bank fishing laydowns and grass with no luck, fished several points that looked great and should have held fish but didn't. We moved around to the protected side (no wind) and started hitting the grass patches along the bank and we managed to pull a few small largemouth out on texas rigs. Well, Texas rig for me, shakeyhead for my partner. We fished for a few hours and only caught 5 bass & 1 crappie. But I figured that wasn't bad for a new lake and only a few hours on the water. All but two came out of the grass, those two we cought off a point that had a nice tree top laying in about 12' of water.

The crappie smoked my chrome/blue back rattle trap... not sure how he thought he was gonna get the thing in his mouth. lol. Guess he was hungry.

Anyway, will definitely be going back.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like a perfect lake with all the cover.  :-* Keep swinging, you'll find them bigger fish.
