Sharing info on what is or is not working is what made this Club great and different from all others.

If I say I went fishing and caught 12 including a nice 6 lber, that helps no one.

If I say I went to Lake George and worked the eelgrass edge in 4 ft of water using a slow swimming UVibe Speedworm and caught 12 including a nice 6 lber, I have helped other anglers who may fish waters similar to Lake George. Or if they go to Lake George it gives them an idea of what was working.

Now the fact that I say Lake George doesn't mean that Lou, Rick, Barry or anyone else is going to drop all and run there. Way to much distance to do that, unless a special trip was made.

I can pretty much say right now I'm not going to head to Miami to fish any of the parks that Rick fishes or the canals that Lou fishes, unless they invite me down to with them. Same with Tress in Jacksonville. I'm not going to drop all and head there even knowing Tress has caught some big fish there.

From that insight, I see no reason not to name the waters where you fish. It's not like they will suddenly get overrun with new guys and it takes all doubt as to them being Public away. Heck even Private Lakes have names.

I guess what I am saying is why hide them at all? It is one thing to do so if your just fishing them for your own fun, but whenever ANY Contest--- even a Bragging Rights Contest --- becomes the reason for fishing them and you are entering fish from those lakes into it-- it becomes reasonable to include in those postings where the fish were caught.

That is the only way to ensure no one is cheating or trying to by sneaking into a place they are not allowed to be.

And after all, The FBRC is part if the Fishing Reports Section of Ultimate Bass. We should be giving reports to help the site, especially since they allow us to hold this contest on it.

That's my (probably) final thoughts on it.

You're too focused on "winning" and haven't heard a word (like Thomas posted) about helping others while having a friendly competition. Seesh! You take tone deaf to a new level.
I don't know what problem you could possibly have with the post I sent to *LOU*. He answered the question and  we are all clear on the issue.
As far as being focused on winning, thanks, I consider that a compliment.
Helping others? By all means, ask me anything, I'll help all I can. Read my posts, I've always been very forthcoming about my techniques. No, I won't be posting the names of my spots on a public site. Tell me any fisherman, bass or otherwise, that isn't tightlipped about his spots. If you or anyone else wants information about Jacksonville fishing, you have an open invitation to join me, or just PM and ask anything you want. When Shorttimer, a new poster from out of town, asked about local fishing, he PM
d me, and I turned him on to my spots. He was thankful for it, and he and I are now friends who will continue to stay in touch.
Lou once told me that I was sitting on a goldmine, while others on this board are panning for gold down by the river. I am screaming at the top of my lungs to everyone "Hey, come down here guys, there's a big vein of gold - let's all dig in!". We live in Florida. The whole state is a goldmine. Be a better miner, that's as helpful as I can get.
You seem to be implying that I am somehow complaining, nitpicking, or even cheating, when all I want is complete clarification of the rules. The natural competitor in me won't allow me to cheat, so you can stop with the righteous indignation and questioning of my integrity. I've always been respectful to everyone on this site, including you. You do not know me, TR21, but if you did, you'd find that I am a pretty nice guy, respectful, helpful, an avid sportsman, a very knowledgeable angler, and yes, competitive as hell - but always encouraging to my fellow competitors in all the sports I enjoy. Read any of my posts over the last year, and that is evident.

I started with small boat fishing about 6 years ago. When I first started, there was hardly anyone around, and now, everywhere I go there are more and more people showing up, some of them taking bass. If you really want to know the exact locations of where I am on any particular day, PM me. There is no way I'm posting these places publicly.

Deadeye,
Despite my clever nickname, I am not tresspassing in order to fish.

That said, I've been fishing all the lakes in my rotation for years, and have never had any trouble whatsoever. Neither have the other locals who frequent them, and neither would any of you guys.

The question still remains. Do you have legal access to these lakes?
Just because no one has asked you to leave yet, or everyone else does it, does not make it legal.  Unless these lakes are public or you have permission from the the landowner, then you are, by definition, trespassing.

@Everyone

The phrase "tacit permission" is the perfect example of the erosion of personal integrity that is rampant in today's society.  You either have actual permission or you don't. This reminds me of one my gunny sgt Grandfather's favorite sayings. "Do the right thing, even when no one is watching."

@Fred and Thomas. Lake Lowery is a public body of water owned by Polk county and managed by the Peace River Watershed Commission. Although no county or state boat ramps exist, there is access through private ramps that can be used with a phone call or you can use the one in my back yard. You can even use my boat.

However, if any one person in this club feels that living on Lake Lowery gives me an unfair competitive advantage, I will not use it for this competition, with no complaints what so ever.

Lee if your lake is a public lake but has no public ramp should not affect you fishing it. If anyone can call in to use the private ramp then technically it is open to the public. Also am not sure of how the lake looks but if it's public technically someone could get a yak or small vessel in there without using a ramp.
II have no issue with you fishing the lake you live on.

Lee I have no issues with your lake or you fishing it. Don't remember posting that I did? I mentioned there is a lake nearby you I got a 9lber. That lake has one ramp, private only. It's cattle land with no fish camp or houses on it period. The ramp is several gates in, all with different codes.. that is why I wouldn't post fish from there. Also it's ridiculous, like fish in a barrel.

Your lake has cabins for rent.. anyone can go there. Again, no issues from me.

Deadeye

Seems like every 1-3 years or so we go through a Blow Up. When  I realized that some of my comments might be contributing to that Blow Up, I removed them.

First and Foremost is the integrity and preservation of the Club. I in no way wish to see it dissolved.

Public Waters are just that, waters owned by the state or county and open to fishing by the public. Personally I see a difference between a public lake that has homes built around it and a private community that built lakes for their residents to fish and in most cases stock them.

If I had the pleasure of living on such a lake I would fish it and most likely use the catches for the contest. I, like Barry, would probably not include catches from a gated community lakes.

After taking some time to think it over and see Lou's clarifying of it, it seems pretty clear to me. Fish catches submitted should be from Public waterways or from waters where fishing is permitted.

Fish catches submitted from Private Ponds or from waters where fishing is not permitted are not allowable for this contest.

If everyone fished the same types of waters the Playing Field is level, just as it would be if we all were fishing on the same lake.

Like I said, putting all personal feelings aside, the Club comes first and what is in the best interest of and for it.

Damn, there sure is a lot of vitriol coming out for someone you guys have never met. Get off your high horse. I'm not such a bad guy. Look, your point would be much more valid if I was poaching. Or if I was going in people's back yards. But I go to business/industrial parks, pick up trash in the lake, remove other fisherman's messes (especially bird and fish-killing line), and leave the place in better shape than when I got there. Some of these like Lake A and Lake C I have permission. At Lake A, the only security guard I have ever seen has sat and talked to me as I fished, and was amazed that I threw the fish back in. At Lake C, the access is at a Plumbing supply. I put in during business hours, chat with the employees, and was even told by another fisherman in a john boat that they encourage fishing there. Big Island Swamp has forever been the most popular fishing spot in Jax. Before they started developing you could pull right up to it. A few years ago, I made friends with one of the residents in the apartments on one side, and now, I fish it as his guest. The school lake is now off limits, and I told Lou last night to remove my catches. Those are the only two fish I caught there this new season.
Fish your lake all you want, and post the catches. I never said that was unfair, in fact, that is my entire point. We fish what we fish.

For those lost or confused:

Rule #4b: Only LMB caught in Legally Accessed Waters will be accepted in this competition. Fishing in Private and/or fenced in waters is Prohibited. The only exception to this rule will be Home Owner Association Communities which permit fishing for their residents and their guests.

Please keep in mind. This addendum will go into effect on WED Nov 1st.

Quote from: Bassinlou on October 22, 2017, 02:17:17 PM
I'm going to attempt to clarify this topic one more time.

If the water body you want to fish, be it public OR private HAS NO signs and/or fencing that clearly states NO TRESSPASSING and/or NO FISHING, and CAN be utilized for fishing by anyone WITHOUT permission then the fish caught there can be used for this competition.

In regards to apartments, and HOA communities. If you ARE a resident or a GUEST of a resident, and you are you are legally allowed to fish on the property, meaning the Associations of these communities allow fishing on their property, then the fish caught there can be used for this competition.

Fish your lake all you want, and post the catches. I never said that was unfair, in fact, that is my entire point. We fish what we fish.

First of all, if requiring that people I interact with be not so casual with the truth or facts is being "on my high horse", then I'm going to die on top of this horse.

Secondly, I never said you were a bad guy and I don't think you are. If you took it as a personal attack I apologize.

However, you again made my point about the lack of personal integrity for me. The absence of someone standing in front of you telling you can't do something does not translate to "it's legal to do it."  Whether or not you are poaching or in someone's back yard is irrelevant. Without specific  permission from the land owner, you are still, by definition, trespassing.

So you can admit that you're trespassing or take the time to get actual permission. The landowners names  and addresses are readily available on your local tax assessors website.

Next I want to bring up the spirit of this competition. Most of us have access to private water that would almost guarantee a win every month. We don't use them because winning just to win is not a principle that this club was founded on. This group of fishermen is unlike any you'll find elsewhere and maybe your sense of fairness does not align with the rest of the club. Contrary to one of your earlier statements, most members readily give up spots and baits to ensure that everyone at the classics have a good time regardless of the outcome. I've seen it, and I've done it.

And lastly. You are the only club member that has had a problem with the rule change.  Why is that?  Based solely on your responses, a couple of questions come to mind.  Is it because you know you can't compete on public water?  Or is it an insatiable desire to win at something no matter what? I admit I don't know you personally or the answers to those questions but they are something you might want to ask yourself.
