No bass activity today. Couldn't get any interest in the frog, or worm.

But I did get to try the Teckler Sprinker frog today. I really like how it functions. One thing though are the hooks, first I am glad they didn't go with the hooks that one of their previous frogs had. Those things were short, and though I never got a strike on that frog, I just can't see how the hookup ratio isnt bad. On the Sprinker the hooks look more like regular frog hooks, they are sharp, but unlike most frogs they sit a bit far apart from the body. This allows the hooks to get caught in pad stems or collect grass like eel grass that is on the surface. Multiple times I had eel grass on the frog. This is an easy remedy though. Should be able to bend the hooks in a little.

We will see how this frog performs when I get a chance to actually set the hook on some fish.

Keep us posted Rick. You know, I bet the sprinkler frog will work at your night fishing spot.

Fished at Lake Diaz yesterday and the parking area was full. Normally you see 1-3 boats there and it was full with it's 8 or so spots. I got the last one.

Fished most of the day and only 2- 13 inch fish to show for it. Tough tough bite. Water was super high and I was fishing some areas I have never been able to get to before.

All the extra daily pressure doesn't help either. With the river not fishable due to the ramps being closed guys are searching out any water they can get on.

That was my night fishing spot lol. But yeah I didn't stay till night. I may need to before the month is over though.
I know the sprinker frog will work because I had made my own and took it out there, that same day I had a huge fish come up and take it. When I set the hook my line snapped and my frog was gone. I know it was a big bass because it revealed itself before striking, came up behind the frog and showed its back and fin, like jaws, swung around the side and side swiped the frog. It was an amazing strike followed up by pure disappointment and the eventual throwing away of Power Pro Maxcuattro spool lol.
Those events are engraved in my mind...they haunt me at night! lol

Sounds like yesterday was a slow day for bass fishing overall. But at least you caught 2!

Not that I'm a high water expert, but I've read that tossing jigs in those flooded areas can be deadly, and that a surprising number of larger fish are in that 6" to 1' of water.

Ok, ok, the "monkey" got me. Was looking for a basic little rod n reel to keep in my work truck as not to damage my good Quantum/Berkley's. Found a Lew's American Hero setup at Dick's. 30 bucks for a Lew's?! Ok, I'll try it. Not that I expect it to be my Quantum but for the price, I couldn't say no. Off to throw a few casts at Boca Rio.

For that price you don't have much to lose if you don't like it. Hope you catch some fish on it.

Here's a mini park report:

Fished from 5:30 to 6:30pm. Wind was blowing pretty good from the ENE. I was throwing the centipede again, and figured out they were holding in the grass. Towards the second half of my outing I fished a flat that had the fish stacked for some reason. I didn't have to move from this spot from that point forward. Finished with 10 fish caught, and missed a few more. For an hour worth of fishing on a Fri evening it was pretty relaxing and fun!!

That works for sure. Where I was the grass was thick and had several types of vegetation. I couldn't even get to the bank edge. I had what I thought was a couple of takes on a Brush Hog down deep in that mess, but was hard to tell. More of a Pressure and Is That a Take feeling. Both hooksets came up empty, except for weeds.

I tried to slow down and let something sit on the bottom near the underwater weed line, but the wind was blowing so hard I couldn't stay near the same spot for long. Tough without any PP or Talons.

Two I got were on a Swimbait and a Fluke. Had several hits Buzzing the Swimbait but they were not getting it. Of course one big one attempted to grab it and missed.

FD

Went out this morning at first light. Fished for two hours with only two dinks to show for it. My lake is still messed up from the storm I think. With the weather finally cooler I may trade the rods for the bike this afternoon.

PoPo Changes for Novemeber  PoPo

With November being about 11 days away, and our season reaching its half way point, I have made an addendum to our club rules. This rule has been in the works for quite some time, Mike Cork and I have bounced this idea back and forth a few times and we feel its time to institute this addendum.

I know this addendum will/might effect current and future participants of our club, but this addendum will provide an equal advantage for anyone who chooses to participate in our monthly competitions.  For many of you however, it will be business as usual.

The addendum is as follows:

Rule #4b: Only LMB caught in Legally Accessed Waters will be accepted in this competition. Fishing in Private and/or fenced in waters is Prohibited. The only exception to this rule will be Home Owner Association Communities which permit fishing for their residents and their guests.

Please keep in mind. This addendum will go into effect on WED Nov 1st. I'm simply making this announcement now so if there is any discussion to be had, we will transition smoothly on Nov 1st.

If anyone has any discussion points they would like share, you are welcome to reach me privately or here on this thread.

Do apartment ponds fall in this category? They are private property, but accessed by many people.

Chris, are you able to fish these waters as a resident of these apartments?

The management is aware of the fact that I fish these ponds, even though I am not a resident

Were you given permission to fish these waters Chris? Can anyone of us walk in and fish these waters if we chose to?

cport

I have been observed by both maintenance crew and management, to where both have  actually asked if I'm catching any, so I guess it would be called tacit approval. If I park in non reserved spots there is not a problem. I can only assume that you or anyone else can do the same.

Lou,
As you and most others know, most of the waters I fish fall into the prohibited category. Although, if any of you walked up to them, you would be able to fish them just as I, and many other local fishermen do. If that doesn't work for you, then I will no longer submit fish from those lakes. I will still fish them, and enjoy it, but I will miss being part of this competition.

Wife and I walked Circle B bar reserve today. It's a nice park area a few minutes from the house. Lots of trails around the wetlands of peace river. Lots of really good size gators as well. Also they seem to not want you to fish it.. I have never seen this much work on a dock to make it useless lol

Whats the point of the wall at the end? With the windows? Is it a duck blind dock or something? lol
