Caddo Lake Bass Fishing Reports

There is much more Hydrilla than pads. I didn't spend any time on Caddo last year but seems like hydrilla has taken over (not really a bad situation). It seems like the area that typically produced w/ pads still produce but not in the same manner. Looks like I'm going to have to learn how to punch through the grass and work that way in the future, but I look forward to it.

When we were out there in January, it was a very over grown with hydrilla. Guess it hasn't got cold enough around here to kill any of it off

Who all is going this weekend? Looks like I am going to BPS tomorrow but Sunday and Monday I will be headed out there.

monday for me. hope the rain will be gone. fishing the la bass hunters tourny next weekend 26th so will be out looking around.

Fished Sunday from daylight till about 2 pm. Only caught 4 bass and everyone was a 17 7/8 clone. Caddo has been brutal for me the past year with slot fish. Caught most of them early up shallow and one out in 4 ft on a tree with a brush hog. The shallow fish came on a spinner bait. Caught several jack fish, do they count

Wind was brutal out of the south and water temp was 53-54.

Kingfish and I hit Caddo from 0830-1500 yesterday. Water temp was 57-64, cooler on the Texas side. Threw spinners, cranks, jigs, and plastics. Finally caught two dinks in Jeem's on plastic.

We covered a lot of water just trying to get a feel for the lake since we've never been on it before. Any help would be appreciated

went to caddo monday fished from 0700-1330 caught 8 bass 3 jacks all in shallow water water was 58-65 all but 2 came on spinnerbait. 1 bass 1 jack came on blackberry lizard.

fished cadddo tuesday, fished some of the same area from yesterday didnt get a bite moved around the other side of the island caught 1 dink on a toad, missed a good one and noticed all the bait fish swimming around so changed to a fluke an caught a 4.9 . these fish were in the grass feeding really good saw a 3lb just crusing around. oh i noticed a few fish were on the bed?

so maybe its going to get really good. they were 6lb + fish.

Fished Caddo today from about 10 till 3 They have moved up

But better than that a lot of the mommas are holding out on the drops in 6-8 ft. just waiting for those boys to make the bed

I caught 3 overs 2 of which are over 7 lbs. and a 5 lbr. shook off two real giants right before I left. 3 slot fish that all appeared to be males in shallow water on a spinnerbait. no unders to bring home to the skillet. The big fish all came on a #@$%^%$#*. ore on that after the tourney Sat. Just hope they stick for 3 more days

Great deal Papa and Railroader, I hope they pan out for you. I spent several hours out there this Sunday and condn't hardly by a bite, just four fish and all were slots. Fished a lot of shallow water and seen nothing big. Good Luck guys

I havn't seen any actual beds but several trees with activity around it like the males are running stuff off. I am sure some of the females have moved up especially on the main lake in the deeper trees, but lots of males in real shallow water.

A friend called me today he said he went monday night around 8:30pm with a spot light he said alot of fish are on the trees, about every other tree was a fish some slot but a few over 6 couldnt get them to bite. we ay a few on beds tuesday but they were not ready to eat yet. i wount be able to make it saturday

going under the knife tomorrow will be down for a week so hope ya'll save me a few.. later

it should definately be on Sat. with the cold front all those mommas that have moved up and the ones that were ready will just ease back to a little deeper water and hold on some cover close to the shallow water. should take 20 + to win the La. Bass Hunters.

Robert, I haven't heard much about them lately but a couple weeks ago they were tearing the up at the mouth of goverment ditch (north side) on rooster tails and small cranks.

Anyone hear how the tournament went up there today?

Well we crashed and burned

We had a 5.7 4.9 and an under, to go along with 3 slot fish over 17 inches. we were 3 lbs. out of the money just could not get that last over.
Oh by the way it took 28+ lbs. seems most of the fish came grass beds in 3-5 ft.

I did have one fun thing happen, I snagged about a 5 lb. gou, when it hit I hollered for the net . I just about had a heart attack I just could not get it turned and it was ripping drag. for about 30 seconds I really thought I had the lake record, it was hooked in the back and those things can really pull.
After we saw what it was the rest of the day was a little sad
