Hey Bill, Chris has a point.  Using the chart on this site, a 26.5" fish translates to about 9 lbs.

It is real hard to go by a measurement guys.
I caught a 25 inch fish last fall from Caddo that was 9.13 , an incredibly fat fish, I also earlier in the summer caught a 26 inch fish that weighed less than 7 lbs.. Kind of like people short and fat equal heavy (like me) long and skinny equals light. ~roflmao
papa ;D

Mr. bigmouth

I once hung a fish that was about 4 feet long...........................that fish somehow turned into a green gator......hs.....needless to say he got the bait  lol

According to the paper weight scale a 26 incher is supposedly an 11 plus ....At any rate ....its a trophy and I will take it anyday. ~c~ ~c~ ~c~

Hey, yeah, gee, guys,  thanks for bringing up the scales....... I just went out and checked them with a weight and, hey, they were exactly 4 pounds off!!!!That fish really weighed 12 1/4 pounds!!!!!  Man, I never would have known that!  Thanks for setting me straight!!  LOL!!!

When I first pulled the fish into the boat and had her on my measuring tape, the weight/lenght scale it has stopped at 24", so I knew it was gonna be heavy.  I have a digital scale that I've never checked, but I suppose it is accurate....I guess I should go out and check it with a known weight....if it does turn out to be out of whack, I'll be honest about it and post it here (as long as it errs light)

Thanks (for real) for all the congrats,  it really was an exciting catch......

I do have some prints from my emergency disposable camera that I will have to scan and put on here....(we don't have to discuss me dropping my digital camera into the lake a couple of weeks ago, do we?)

Thanks again,
Bondo

PS don't be trying to follow me, Red Ranger, not after you wouldn't let me count this fish as a late entry for a tourny 2 weeks ago!!

Red Ranger

Well, when you saw how big it was, you should have shook it off and saved it for the "any lake" tournament next month.   ::)

Hawgwild

Hey bondo...do believe you are correct about the scales being off...the fish I caught a few months back was 27" long and weighed 11.18 lbs...and that was on official scales...

This was also a post spawn fish...

I do know how you feel...nice fish and congrats..

I am just glad to see proof that Caddo does have fish in it, after my last to trips I was begining to wonder!! I saw the pics of Bondo's fish, very nice.

I went up on the river (Big Cypress Bayou) on Saturday, and caught 10, all on a Pop-R.  Missed another 5 or so on a Ribbit.  Nothing over 2 lbs in the whole lot, though.

Went today back to the same place, and caught 7.  Biggest three were 3.5, 4 and 5 lbs.  The 5 and the 3.5 came on Pop-r's, the 4 (which was very poorly, and should have weighed out more) was on a worm.  All together, 2 were on Ribbits, 1 on June Bug worm, and 4 on Pop-R.  The poorly one had a weighted hook way down in his gullet, but I got it out with the long tongs.  It might have been what was keeping him from eating properly.

Saw the game warden cruise by on Saturday...got visited by him today.   PoPo   I was fortunate to have remembered to re-new my license in time, but I can imagine they are booming with tickets for those who have forgotten.  My advice is to make sure you're current...because they are out this holiday.

Anyway, I've probably lost 10-12 fish the last two outings by missing them on that stinkin' Ribbit.  My relationship with that bait is definately a love/hate one.  I love the blow-ups, but I must not be rigging it right.  I don't own a bait I have ever had less percentage with.  When I rig it, I use the bead and a wide-mouth 5/0 hook,  I push the hook all the way through the frog to make sure it will come out, then I sometimes lightly skin hook it, and sometimes not.  Either way, the hook almost always runs downward, so it tries to hook in the bottom jaw.  How can you rig it where the hook is pointing upwards?  I haven't figured it out yet.

Anyway, it's been a couple of pretty good trips.  Got to fight a few fish, had the wife out fishing on Saturday (she's just learning to throw a baitcast reel, and pitch!) and took the oldest daughter today.  Not huge fish, but a few new fish pics for the collection.  I can think of worse trips.  Pleasure boaters and ski boat traffic started picking up pretty good about noon, though.  If you go, go at first light.

Crustaceous thanks for the report and sounds like your not doing to bad  ~c~ ~c~

Good report and super trip Crustaceous...probably saw you there today..

Had my Brother in law in from Florida and we went to Caddo and fished Big Cypress today also...launched at Johnsons Ranch about daylight...We were in the little grey Alumaweld with the 70 Yammy.. :)

Caught some good firh on a variety of baits from plastics to traps to topwater....

Brother in law had a blast and caught a bunch of fish....many of them on a clear Tiny Torpedo...

I'd say we caught 15 or 16 fish and missed way to many... lo

Fish were kinda split between slot fish and unders...did't get any overs to the boat...Probably best 2 baits were the clear Tiny Torpedo and a Culprett Red Shad worm...But also caught a few fish on black blue and black neon craw worms..and one or twi on rattle traps...

Anyway had a fun trip and brother in law said it was one of the best bass fishing trips he has had in a long time..and he fishes Kissimmee in Florida.. :)

I'm found in a green, 18' Bass Tracker with a 90.  Daughter was sunning today.

Give me a shout if you ever see me!

OK,  I checked my scales.....bought a 10 lb bag of sugar (getting low anyway) and had the checker weigh it on her scale, to account for the weight of the bag, too....it was 10.11 lb....I figure that as pretty close to 10 lb and 2.2 ounces (never was much good at math, don't correct me unless I'm off by more than an ounce).....then I weighed the sugar at home with my scales and they settled on 10 lb 3 ounces after a good bit on bouncing between 10 lb 1 ounces and 10 lb 3 ounces....therefore, I declare that my personal best bass stands at 8 lb 4 ounces and I'm tickled to death with it!!!

I scanned my pics but I think they are too big, too many mb's, to add as an attachment....I'll try to figure that out next.

See ya on the lake.....Bondo

Red Ranger

My experience is that the weight increases proportionately to the number of times you tell the story.  So if you tell the story enough, by the time you retire it will be "somewhere around 10........on a good, accurate set of scales".   ~an~

BIG PAPA

So Ranger are you saying that the fish I caught that was 9 lbs 13 oz. Could have grown to about 10 lbs. by now '-{
papa lo

Red Ranger

Absolutely!  And we've even given Bondo all the ammo he needs by questioning the accuracy of his scales - his could easily gain substantial weight over time. :roll2:

skeeter_bite

Especially since there is no picture to post (yet), he could easily add a couple of pounds!! lo
G Loomis rods and Shimano reels!

bondo

did I tell ya'll about the big bass I caught Sat AM......man, it must have been at least 30" long and probably 17 or 18 pounds because it broke my de-liar scale....I tried to take a picture but it wouldn't fit in the view finder of the camera lo

I'm goin' back in the morning to see just how smart that fish is lo

Bondo

Hawgwild

I think it's starting to get a little deep around here... ;D

Bondo is finally showing some signs of being a real fisherman - he's learning to lie! >:D

Bondo.. great fish....any fish over 8lbs. is a good fish for this time of year ....or anytime of the year. just remember you can always take them to Caddo grocery to use their official scales, I usually just call them first to tell them im coming so that they will have the scales ready. Great Catch Man.
