I heard that it took aroun18-19lbs for 1st but a friend of mine told me my unlce finished like 15th with 4.5 (1 over) if that tells yall anything! a guy from my bass club named dwayne sams won with 18 something...a good buddy of mine...russ mcvey sd that they had a great day...caught 10-12 and only 1 wasnt in the slot lol...sd he had 3-4 lbers that fell in the slot...needless to say they only wighed in 1...Jeremy

Caddo can be tough  with those slot fish, I have blanked in tourney's that I caught 8-10 fish sometimes legal Louisiana fish but just would not reach 18.

Good weights at the top......and then it falls quickly. There are some big guns that had it rough. Saturday was a tough day for alot of folks on all the lakes.

Went up on Big Cypress Bayou this morning and fished from about 0900 till 1300.  Fished with a Pop-R the whole time, and it was dink city.  Caught one bass that would go around 3lbs (didn't actually weigh or measure), but EVERYTHING else was probably a pound or less.       Put 10 in the boat, and although they lacked size, they were full of fight.  Was fun anyway, and that was the whole point.

fished caddo sat. night from about 8 till 12, caught 8 with 2 unders and the rest in the slot.  Most of the fish came on ribbits and a black buzz bait. Doesn't take long for the grass to take over. Fished last week and the same places are topped out now. Its only going to get better as the weather gets warmer.

The bass are really starting to get hot on frogs in the heavy grass. Try a Bayou Bull Frog in colors of watermelon/red and black/yellow feet. Around the cypress, a Lightning Blade in colors of black/red and Texas Sage have really caught some nice bass over the past week. The Pork Shad in colors of copperhead and most any watermelon color have worked well. To really dead stick your lure on the cypress try a Chopstik in junebug or red shad. I have caught a couple of 7 lb. bass this week on the trees in 3-4 ft. water by pitching a watermelon candy Super High-Tail with a 1/4 oz. weight. Bream are still being caught good but not as many bedded up like before. The lake is at normal levels and and the water temps have been ranging from 80-85 degrees. Anyone catch the photos on the news of those catfish they caught in Caddo? Hey, if the bass aren't biting, I'd say go fishing for some flathead. A neighbor of mine hit Caddo yesterday too. I'll see what the lake did for him.

I had a nephew in from out of town, and we fished from 0600 to 1300.  Caught a grand total of one fish, on a Pop-R, and missed a couple on Ribbits.  Only catch came from up on the river, and we fished Bradley Creek (or whatever it's called...boat run "U", I think) all the way back to boat run "A".  Couldn't get bit on really anything.  Tried buzz baits, topwaters of several types, worms and Ribbits.  Did manage to catch a game warden visit, though.  It was a "she", on a jet ski, and she checked fishing licenses, fire extinguisher, life jackets, and throw cushion.

Did anyone make any significant catches?

Fished Caddo today with my daughter from around 8 to about 12.  Caught 3 weigh fish - one over and two unders.  Caught the biggest, about 4lb on spinner bait.  The two unders on a tube.  Fish were caught in about 3-4' of water.  Water was muddy.

Fished almost the same water as Red Ranger and hauled water. Got one hit on a tube from 8 till 2. Where are all those big Caddo bass?

TRY GETTING INTO THE THICKEST AND DEEPEST GRASS YOU CAN FIND. I HAVE USED UP TO 3/4 OZ. WEIGHTS TO PUNCH THROUGH THE THICK STUFF WITH MY SOFT PLASTICS BUT THAT IS WHERE THE HOGS CAN BE CAUGHT. HAVE NOT DONE MUCH OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS OFF THE CYPRESS, EVERYTHING FOR ME HAS BEEN THICK GRASS,GRASS,GRASS....
nOT A REAL FUN WAY TO FISH BUT WITH PATIENCE AND PRACTICE IT CAN PAY OFF.

Just wondering what the current water conditions are after the recent rains..

Is Cypress, Aligator Bayou, Jeemes, and perhaps back toward the dam...has the water muddied up very much?

Got a little tourny from work on Caddo Sunday and will probably be on the lake Saturday also..

The lake is currently at 168.70...still a foot and 3/10's from normal pool. The lake came up approximately 2 inches from the rainfall and that's about it.  Fished Caddo on Monday before the rains and did not hit Jeems but Aligator was very stained...not muddy but almost a dark red (tea stained) tint to the water.  Jeems is full of grass from what I hear thus I would bet that the grass would filter out any muddy current the lake gets from Jeems but a two inch rise is all the lake got.

http://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/reports/fish.htm This is the Corp of Engineers site that keeps daily levels posted for Texas Parks and Wildlife. The lake is at normal conservation level of 168.50 Todays level is 168.53, a little high. The site also shows how much water is going over the spillway daily too, only 96 cubic feet a second today. There are several other lakes listed here too if it can help anyone. Without anymore rain and the heat the way it is the lake will start to drop below normal levels fast though.

The lake as of 6/9 was still at 168.70 and holding steady...I believe the USGS site of 168.53 was the reading for tuesday.  I would not expect any additional rise...and with the forecast the way it is...perhaps a slow fall into next week.

I took two fellas out fishing yesterday from 7:30 am til about 11:30. We made the run from Shady Acres to the mouth of Alligator where we started with various baits. I had on a Texas rigged Old Monster , one guy had on a crankbait and the other had an brown and orange H&H. I landed the first fish within four pitches..... a very fat under . The guy with the H&H landed the second fish a few casts later (a nice 4 plus pounder). We fished that area for another 15 minutes with no luck. We moved up Alligator and fished the mouths of several sloughs throwing various baits and caught some smaller fish here and there on Senkos (weightless) When we got up to Big Cypress I broke out the Carolina Rig and really put the smackdown on em. No overs but multiple slots and unders. Neither of these boys have ever thrown a Carolina rig and chose not to change so then we moved to some docks where I sat back and let them fish these with only one under caught on a Texas rigged Old Monster. We were using 1/8th oz weights with 5/0 hooks on these rigs. The Carolina rig which accounted for most of the fish ,I used a 3/4 oz weight with a 3/0 hook ,5 foot leader, baited with a baby brush hog .Most fish were caught in 8 foot or less with the C-Rig.

i do have a question chris.......how in the ---- do you throw a c-rig with a 5 foot leader.....i think you need to give me some fishin classes one day.just curious....obviuosly im not in the know anymore
