That sounds like a plan James, I guess both of us will have to wait a little longer. I'm with you on waiting and getting everything that we want and that Verado will come down in price if they want to sell more of them, at least 2 more of them,,,,,, :roll2: :roll2:

I asked about it last time I was at Bass Pro drooling over the 929. I want to say it was about $18,000 for the Verado!

Went to Caddo Saturday from 9am til 4pm.  Fished hard but only caught 1 on a firetiger crankbait.  Nothing was biting, so we broke out the crappie poles and caught about 50 whites with some shiners.  That was fun.  Water was pretty clear, and about 47-49 degrees.

Trey

Gabby,
Where did you catch those crappie?

Gabby

Trey - we were headed to Caddo Grocery, and all up and down that stretch we were watching people pull fish out.  Really, anywhere along that stretch - especially at the bends - the fish were stacked up.

They were all white bass, though.  Didn't catch one white perch, but we hammered the whitey.  All were small, except for one or two.  I was fishing about 8-10 feet down.  Brantley didn't start catching them until he adjusted his depth to that.

Let's go Hawg hunting next week....

Trey

I'm up for it!  Just let me know when.

I guess I need to go buy a map. I would like to get in on some of that action!

Papa, could you help out here. I know where all these places are but I don't know the boat road letters. If you take boat road C between Jap island and Big green break what is the second boat road past Potters point that takes you over to the river threw Drag Over Cut. The boat road goes just north of Sand island?

Isn't Johnson's Ranch that store just about 1/4 mile down from Caddo Grocery?  The place where you can buy shiners & gas, right?

Caddo is alive and well :roll2: :roll2:
Fished today from 11:00 till 4:30 Caught 9.... 5 overs  (yep 5 overs) and 4 slot fish.
Louisiana overs, I never left Jeems. Actually had 2 over 18 including a 20 1/2 inch chunk. Largest 5 weighed 1 ounce shy of 20 lbs. All came on a homemade jig, a hook with a skirt attached that I fish with a sliding weight so I can use what ever weight I need, Brown , Brown.  Single trees in a little slough just a little deeper than the surrounding area. lo

Was it "our" little spot, papa?  The one with the "triple tree" that you told me always produces a fish for you each winter?  I won't tell anyone, and I always release my fish!

docwaldo

me and a buddy went to the big cypress river this morning.  right ouit in front of johnson's.  we were fishing for white bass.  we caught a few, but not very many.  about 10 probably.  caught most of them on a chrome rat-l-trap, and abouit three on a kast master jigging spoon, with a red treble hook.  the bigger ones were caught on the spoon.  tried a few spots up above the gov't ditch, but did not even get bit.  it was freakin' cold running across the lake at daylight.  my buddy did not quite dress for the occasion.  man--he was shivering like a dog crapping a peach pit.   lo  funny!!!!!

drop it deep and yank it hard.  .  .

I meant to post on Sunday.

Went to Tuckers Landing, and where there is usually anywhere from 3-10 trucks there, there must have been at least 50.  There wasn't another place to park.  The lake looks like it's gonna be VERY busy this coming spring.

Only managed two fish in a little over three hours on the water.  The first, an over, came on a spinnerbait just off the south side of run AA just below Big Green Break.  Knew it was gonna be a slow day when that one bit on about the fourth or fifth cast I made.

Later, I went up on Big Cypress...and picked up the only other fish I caught on a 7-8 deep diving crankbait, where the bank on the north side of the river falls off sharply.  I was not far east of the entrance to Pine Island Pond, but of course on the other side of the river.

Anyway...I hate to see that others were in the same boat as I was in the slow fishing department....but it is in some way comforting to think that I wasn't the only one struggling to put fish in the boat, and that it just might not have been a good day to catch em.

Of course, I'm gonna feel like the dumbest buffoon on Caddo when I boat two or less and find out that everyone else loaded up.  I guess that's the good and bad of the message board here, huh? I think I need a partner in crime to go with me so that I'll know to carry my butt to the house when he's catching all the fish outta the back of the boat!!!

Oh well...I can't wait 'til the spring.  NEKKID FISHING RULES!!!!!   ;)

Trey

My wife came home frpm work yesterday with a story and a picture of a guy that caught a 10+ pounder on Caddo the day before yesterday.  He was fishing around Tucker's with a Rapala Shadrap.  I have the picture at home;  it's a hawg!!!  That's all I know for now.  Has anybody else heard that story?

Fished our January Tourney out of Shady Acres on Caddo 1/15 and had a difficult day.
We had about 5 spots where we had caught fish earlier in the week and the week  before but naturally...the cold front the previous wed night shut those patterns down.  Water temps fell from 59 deg previous Sat to 49 degrees on 1/15 with
all the fresh water.

Winning stringer was only 7.42 lbs with a big fish of 4.42.  Their pattern was brushhogs fished deep up Jeems bayou. Could not get a rattle trap bite all day so what fish were caught were stuck on trees.

Websters had their Jan tourney as well and I believe 10lbs and some change won it with their big fish being 7lbs and some change.
