Were abouts were you? On the Texas side or the LA side. I have been on the Texas side but never the LA side. Some buddies of mine want to launch from oil city this weekend. What is it like up there?

Paul Keith

20 today with clients on V&M pork shad and chopstiks. 6.8 was largest, 5 largest went 24 lb. With a total of 8 over and only 2 under. ;)

Mike Cork

That is awesome for some mid to post frontal conditions. You definately have a bead on this fish. Not much talking about Caddo from the club guys, they were all at Toledo this weekend ~sweat

But our next tournament is on Caddo and I know there will be lots of folks prefishing and telling storys.

Thanks for the info guys.

Well maybe it can happen soon. I need to get Paul to tell me if those are grass fish or Cypress fish or a combo of each , could save me a half day of looking since I am not able to put the hours in on Caddo right now.

The fishing has been tough the last three days. The water temp. has drop 10 degrees since Monday. The south side of the lake is muddy and the high water scattered the males that were in 1-3ft. making beds. Don't get me wrong, we needed the high water to push out the floating dead weeds. It might be tough this week, but it will pay off in the long run. The high water will give the bass more areas to spawn. It want take long for the water to clear and everything to get back to normal.
If you do go, everything that  we are catching are on the north banks. That north wind has beat that south bank up. We are are still catching fish on Jigs around "Whatley Island and "John T". They are on the trees in 2-5ft. of water. THEY ARE SCATTERED!!!!  GOOD LUCK!!!!
Stangers in the morning, friends by afternoon.

Hello All: This is my first post.I just moved here from Iowa and yesterday was the first time I had to get the boat in the lake.Big Daddy George help me and we launched at Tucker's. Due to the cold blooded nature of the motor and the weather conditions we decided to fish around Tuckers. We were using 10 inch Berkley Power Bait worms in Motor Oil color we rigged them Texas style. We were throwing them up in the cypress and slowly retrieving them.Danny is right  the water was very dirty on the south of the lake. It took about a half hour but then we started to have success. I took a 5 lber. and  Big Daddy started to get hits. We found that if we stayed on the west side of the cypress islands and fished the calmer waters with some hydrilla present there would be fish. A slow presentation was a big factor  due to the weather conditions(cold and windy). I can tell you this much these Texas bass are Bigger and Smarter than anything we caught in Iowa. Can't wait to get back on the water in better conditions. More fun than a man ought to have standing up.   Boy Howday

Thanks for the report Boy Howday, sounds like you jumped right in and figured out a pattern. Caddo can be tough this time of year especailly with all the weather changes. I imagine you are going to find fishing a lot different around here but I bet your gonna like it  :-* Again thanks for the report and don't forget to check out the rest of the forum, in the "Let us get to know you" section you will find a thread with your name on it and some links to places to visit to include contests to win free stuff  ;) Welcome Aboard ~c~

Thanks for the report boyhowday.....Caddo is a beautiful lake, just make sure you understand the slots and other creel limits as they are different between Texas and Louisiana...

Heading for the Red today and was gonna try some of those same worms there in junebug, redshad, and and another color.......

Lots of good fishing on the Red also...and a half dozen other super lakes in the area..

Welcome to this great site.. Mike and Laurie have something really special here.. ~c~

Scottie thank for the reply. I found out long ago that you catch the Bass and keep and eat  catfish. That way you keep a good fishery going. especially with the Florida strain of large mouth.Moved down here because the lake I was living on in Iowa was ruined by over fishing and no slot limit on Bass. Now it is known as the Dead Sea. Untill I get to know  Caddo better I will stick close to home( Texas Side). Can't wait till this weather straightens out. I know that I will have some great fishing.
Just watching the Birds and Wildlife on the lake makes every trip a great one. Boy Howday

Good deal boyhowday...Caddo is beautiful...just wait till the trees get leaves...awesome...and you'll have to find the "government cut" on up Little Cypress river...very unique..

I like to fish the islands in front of Tuckers and on up in Little Cypress river and on Aligator bayou when fishing the Texas side......There are 10+ pounders comming out of Caddo also....hope you get one.. :)

You seem to be doing allright on you own but you can also get some good ideas by reading back some of the past post in the Caddo thread..

Super bream and perch fishing there also....and the night fishing is super in the warmer months..

Best wishes and I'm off to the river now..
