I've been on Caddo a handfull of times, but I dont know the lake real well.  You guys talk about Tuckers and Jeems and places like that but I dont have a clue where these places are?  Are there any maps or anything that I can find to help me out?  Thanks!

BassBUFF

Yep, you can get them at Wally World or BPS.

I was going to Caddo tomorrow, but an opportunity to go fish a private lake came up.  I'll save Caddo until Sunday and Monday.

Question:  Since there is a boat on almost every tree around Big Green Break roght now, I'm looking for some new water on Caddo, and one place I have never been is up in Bonhams Arm.  First, is it navagable?  Second, how is the fishing up there?  Any tips at all on where, if anywhere, is a reasonable place to fish?

BIG PAPA

The outside of Bohnhams is good but after you get up in the trees it is mighty clear and had a lot of grass, I have been up in there but it is hard to fish right now. We did catch some fish on the pads abnd outside trees about a month ago.

You should try the islands around Tuckers I have heard some good reports from that area. Traps and Lizards.
Just stories though I have not been in there myself.

Railroader

Fished caddo yesterday from 0730 till 1230. caught 10 total with only 3 overs and 1 under. biggest was 5.1lb rest were slots or dinks. but the fun part of the day was on the way home, got about a mile from the house and bang, i thought i had a flat tire, but no the leaf spring on the trailer had broke into and the trailer fell on the tire..lol im running 65mph when this happened. smoke everywhere rubber burning. my luck so i work on changing  a leaf spring till 10pm. so i guess i better change the other one out before i leave and i have to buy new tires as well. all i know is i better catch some fish next week end..

Great report Papa  :-*

Sorry to hear about your troubles Railroader.

I went to Caddo this morning and fish a little bit of everything in the main lake mostly texas side. Caught 11 bass 11 Jack fish. All the Jack fish and one slot bass came on a white spinner bait. All the rest of the bass came on either a weighted or unweighted lizard. The bite was very subtle. Only had one over and it came on the weighted version on the east side of Big Green Break. Fished daylight to 1300hrs.

If the wind is like today and you pick a launch other than Earl G Williamson, you sould be fine. Honestly with the direction it was  blowing it didn't have a chance to make the lake that bad except out in the open water on the Louisiana side. I will be out there again tomorrow, see ya there ;)

Well here's mine from Friday.

Went to Caddo and didnt catch a dang thang but one jack on a trap.  How bout that!?

Brent were you on Caddo this weekend?

Fished Caddo yesterday (Sunday) and launched out of Earl G. (Wish I hadn't  :roll2: just a little rough trying to load ) Only caught 5. One on a spinnerbait and the rest on a lizard all fish came in less than two feet.

I seen several empty beds today and the water temp first thing was 68 in the He11 Hole area. I am thinking that a lot of the spawn is over, that happened fast :shocking: Spent some time on deeper trees and no luck  :-\ This lake baffles me  :roll2:

hey guys, fished caddo FRI,SAT,+SUN, Sunday was the best day. Caught 11 bass, biggest fish was 8.5lb. Had to fight the wind to get bit. Most fish were on trees 4-6ft. Not aggressive at all, sometimes I had to make several cast to one tree to get bit. Ive been fishing a variety of baits, but a crankbait and big worm seem to work best for me. Lots of big fish still staging.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Nick LeBrun

I went out Friday when I got off work.

Brent you need to fish the tree island's. I would try lizards, weighted or weightless and senkos. I've had better luck with dark colors.

I've been on Caddo Lake for the last 13 days. My guest and I have caught more fish on the north side of Green Brake than anywhere combined on the lake. The main reason has been do to a strong south wind and what we call the north side spawn. The bass on the north side of the lake usually spawn out on the March moon. The sway between "Whatley Island" and "John T" has also been a pretty good area. There are a lot of bass up really shallow but, the bigger fish are spawning on the 3-4ft. trees on the roots. Look for trees with knots on the side and there is usually a root running off that side. We've caught the majority of the fish on Watermelon red super flukes. (good luck on finding them)
I've had hardly any luck west of "Ames Spring Basin" mostly because of the floating weeds.
The fishing will be kind of tough for the next couple of days due to the days after the full moon and the front. But, you never know when dealing with a florida strain bass. One day they eat it up, the next day you think they left the lake.I guess that's why they call it fishing. GOOD LUCK!!!!
